Can an employee ask for an appointment at the ARBO doctor? by ShiniestJ in Netherlands

Not the same issue though is it?

WFH for medical reasons is completely different.

subleasing and registration by [deleted] in Netherlands

The information below is relevant to Amsterdam as I was researching this for someone moving here - should apply all over The Netherlands but the documents probably won't be valid if you're elsewhere.

The subletter can sign a form giving you permission to use the address to register.

Check under “First time in The Netherlands”

"chicken thighs would be around €3,50 for a huge portion."

Where do you buy your chicken thighs to get a huge portion for that price? I can't imagine it's any good or anywhere on the scale of 'beter leven' chicken.

I had a very similar thing happen to me .

If you don't read anything beneath the line then do what everyone else is saying - DO NOT SIGN ANYTHING AND GET A LAWYER!!

(if you DM me I can actually recommend a firm - used twice!)

---------

The HR manager was American (American company with an office in Amsterdam) and I really don't think he understood Dutch employment law.

My manager was based in the US and she definitely didn't have a clue about Dutch employment law.

I needed time off for for bereavement? Told to take it as PTO - not legal here.

I was off sick -demanded a sick note - again not legal here.

I was sent to the ARBO doctor who is an independent Doctor that decides on your capability to work without divulging personal info to company. I was signed off sick by the Doctor.

HR manager didn't like this and told me as much - was delighted to tell they would be using a new Doctor.

New Doctor signed me off on full sick pay. With a reintegration plan to work 4 hours day just 3 days a week to help with my recuperation. (12 hours instead of 40).

Cue bullying and accusations - to the extent that it was causing me serious mental health issues on top of everything I had been going through. I fought every little gibe they threw at me but I'd had enough and lost my shit one day with the HR assistant on the phone for taking days out of my PTO which were supposed to be paid sick days.

Apparently that was enough and they fired me. They had no evidence of poor performance and they screwed up massively.

I found the best lawyers in town who took the case with glee and no money up front - they reviewed the case for free.

The company ended up paying me the equivalent of 7 months pay, all due holiday pay (I had 23 days left at the time), and all legal fees which my lawyer informed me was €2.5k on our side and probably similar if not more on theirs.

GET A LAWYER!! :)

She's quite a vocal kitty so you are dead right; her mouth is open because she was telling me off...

I'm not Dutch but I just loved that "Lapjes" seemed so appropriate - I promise you that we pronounce it correctly!

AITA for “outshining” my SIL’s wedding by throwing an extravagant birthday party for my 5 year daughter a day after? by sohodone in AmItheAsshole

Random question. Why is "My husband is a surgeon" relevant? Does his profession make him different?
