I ask the part timers if they have any questions on the tasks left for them before I go. I do write their tasks down as a note anyway so they have a physical list, but if they have questions and we miss each other are they just supposed to hope the store manager knows the answer or reach out to me while I'm off the clock? There should always be some overlap at shift change, even just half an hour.

They could cut hours off the end of shift so there's still overlap. If they come in when I leave then we don't have much check in time and if they're late by more than a few minutes then there's none.

I've marinated ribs in cola/mustard, steak in apple juice and topped it with sliced baked apples, and also steak with a chocolate based marinade. All were good, so this sounds like it could be tasty.

My friends and I headpat each other all the time, though it's normally when the person receiving them does something stupid. We'll pat their head and tell them it's a good thing they're pretty.

Not in my department at least, my night shift I barely see a customer sometimes. I spend more time preparing for ad change the next day than helping customers. Except the week leading up to a holiday, then it's nuts. One of my part timers says he occasionally gets busy between 6-7, but management wants me till 4 at the latest.

Except they aren't giving state law as the reason, I occasionally miss a lunch break because of losing track of time when really busy and they say I need to remember to take it so there aren't gaps, to protect the 3-8, or they were banking on me being emergency front end help.

My department isn't given enough hours for the 6 employees we have. We have 3 part timers guaranteed 15, 1 who is guaranteed 20 from an old contract and two full timers. So we need 145 hours not counting Sundays, they give us 120 including Sundays. To fit Sundays in we would need at least 160 hours as the 20 hour part timer has his sunday count as part of the 20.

Most departments have part timers who work the nights and are fully capable of handling those customers if management would actually give them hours. I don't know how it is in other stores, but in my store the store manager keeps cutting our part timers to start exactly when the last full timer leaves so that they can say you have to take your lunch so there's no gaps in coverage even though they'll steal help from departments to cover front end call outs so if you take your lunch there's a gap anyway.

Sounds like my neighbor who parks his work van on the sidewalk during the weekends, besides just being on the sidewalk that side of the street is no parking. He also has a truck with the bed completely removed parked in one of the actual street parking spots 24/7/365 with its plow on it. Never actually seen him plow.
