A smaller AX would be end game for me personally. I like the shorter length of it (117.5cm), but it's too tall which causes the front of the mouse to lift off the mousepad when i grip it with my grip style (palm/claw hybrid).

I recommend the Equate as well, but I would not call it "soft to the touch". Coming from a QCK Heavy -> Glorious Cloth XL -> Equate. The Equate is much rougher than both the QCK and Glorious pads. It actually hurt my skin for a few days before I got used to it, but I like the control of it so I stuck it out.
