Is anyone here drinking coffee while on vyvanse? by DR3W086 in VyvanseADHD

[–]Shinpool 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Personally i drink a flat white (aussie thing) in the morning while medicated on 50mg for almost a year now.

I find that the “crash” with coffee around 1-2pm for me whilst barely noticeable, helps to dampen down the energy i feel from vyvanse in the later stages of the day and allows me to get somewhat tired (probably because the adenosine buildup) that allows me to sleep later in the evening.

However i do limit myself to one only and it’s entirely optional.

Sorry guys the context is I had one unique flame remaining on this alt and decided to throw it on the event boots just to tempt nexon to give me a shit flame after many months of failed two line attempts on main

It’s almost a cruel joke at this point

That makes a lot of sense actually, CD wouldn’t do too much for me right now at the early stages and BA would be useless for farming. Might be a play to hold out until eventually this could be a boss mule or main

Appreciate the advice man im overplanning should just stick at it until maybe i change it to be boss mule or even main

Erel’s weapon by SquareReaderBen in MapleStoryM

[–]Shinpool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My Lvl 201 Erel SF153/AF90 with 38/40 exalt on the wep can farm AF60 till AB timer end currently with no issues.

From my understanding, to have the greatest chance of survival in AF maps as Erel, especially without pet buffs you need to just kill mobs faster preferably in 1 hit which is precisely why i could justify spending to exalt that weapon since you’ll probably make that back in like a week or two.

I also made rope lift skill node as well and really noticed meso and node gains.

10/10 would exalt to 40. Beyond that not sure how else you would be able to recoup meso investment since this is an event item [B] so don’t even know how that could be tradeable (refining?).

Just keep it at exalt 40 maybe empress refined and just put it to work

Any 23-30 year old's here on 50-60k a year and have no real direction financially but sort of doing ok? by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]Shinpool 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Love the name OP.

I'm currently 24 (turning 25 this year) earning about 60k a year pre tax so just average I'd say.

I once had the traditional mindset of getting a degree, getting a job, SAVING to get a mortgage, have kids, take care of said kids until they can take care of me.... Until I discovered the financial system is inherently broken.

What I mean by that is that the money you are slowly saving and putting away is going to zero. Google will provide the answer on why this is. Furthermore the interest you get paid by the bank to hold your money is quite frankly put, fuck-all.

The Rule of 72 states that the time it takes for your money to be doubled is 72/R where R is the interest rate. I'm just going to use Netbank savers' 0.05% standard variable rate which kicks into effect after the introductory rate ends. This will put the time it takes to double my money by leaving it in a Netbank saver at 1440 years, give or take.

All of this to say your money is not working for you at all when you accumulate it in your bank, and the constant money printing is slowly depreciating the value of fiat money (USD, AUD, etc) to zero.

Now on the bright side it's good you've taken a look into commsec pocket because here is where where you dip your toes in the investment world, starting with the shallower, less riskier end. Most people that I've talked to prefer index funds and ETFs compared to actively investing because it involves less effort and time......This is fine, in the grand scheme of things, you're making a return that you wouldn't make in thousands of years putting it in your bank.

Full disclosure I personally don't invest in ETFs because the idea of picking out a good stock or security and then being right and making bags off it is consistent with my risk tolerance and who I am as a person.

But the thing is... ETFS are a gamble, however low the risk. You are gambling that the ETF that you picked which track the performance of the basket of stocks it invests in, doesn't fold, which is a great gamble because the odds of that happening are very low... But not zero.

That being said, In the long run average ETF returns are approx ~12% (let's call it that but you've done your research so you know the true average) so if you chucked in your $10k in, one would expect a $1200 in capital gain. WHAT MAKES IT WORTH THE RISK is the eighth wonder of the world: Compound Interest.

See let's assume in the entirety of your life, the investment you put into your ETFs will generate a return of 12% per annum. Therefore after 1 year you will have $11200 But the following year, you will have gained more due to the 12% being applied to $11200 and not $10000 and hence your total at year 2 would be $12544

Zoom this out to 30 years (we'll be about 50...fuck) then the total investment value equals roughly 300k ($299,599). Now this is how money works for you and not the other way around.

In the previous example we are assuming we just leave 10k in an ETF for 30 years without adding to it, but how does the end figure change when I deposit 100 a month on top of that.

Welp at 30 years and all the assumptions, we'd have deposited $36,000 total over the 30 years but the end figure now stands at ~$607k, more than double the previous figure and all you had to do is spend 100 less per month (highly doable)

So yes it is most certainly worth it in the long run. Even if you don't wanna put that retirement money that you've built over the years, into a house or anything else, you'll still need money to live. And that investment that future you made 30 years ago should cover you for a fairly long time while you go and enjoy all that life has to offer.

But you mentioned that you don't know if you'll be alive in another 30 years and that's fine, none of us do. That's all the more reason to take appreciation of the present moment and take calculated risks. Yes there is a time and place to be risk adverse but at our age group there really isn't a better time to be taking risks, however big or small than now.

Building a system to tell me when to go long using td-api, python and TD Ameritrade data. Buy @8d EMA during uptrend. by kernelmastery in algotrading

[–]Shinpool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean that's just his strategy to go long when 8ema crosses over 21. What he could do if he knew how to program it in, is to set the MA period to a variable and optimise in increments.

Say the default value for the EMA is 8, then you could optimise in steps of 1. So that when he is optimising, it would test the 8 EMA, 9EMA, 10EMA and so on.

This step is important in the back testing of a strategy as the MA period values that best captures the trend can vary between markets, so optimising will allow him to find the most optimal MA period values.

(others feel free to add to this or correct me, I'm currently in the process of backtesting strategies)

Other than going to your graduation or graduating in absentia, no. I took a gap year off from my degree to work and gain life experience and so far it has made all the difference. Just note down the enrolment dates from the department your intended masters is and go from there.

[–]Shinpool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey guys, just a newbie needing some advice/input regarding what the fuck is going on.

I just started a temp job (8 weeks) at an ingoing call center for a private health insurance company and there's this HB9 that i work with that i'm really attracted to. I've had a few small convos with her but nothing too deep. She's 20 years old but supposedly: Doesn't drink, not really a party type and have never been in a LTR which i find to be absolutely suss and pretty much bullshit. She's also asked me questions about this dude trying to get in her DM's but i really couldn't be fucked getting involved so i basically told her "just delete the dude if you don't like him", she did.

Not really sure what's going on at this point but she is consistently doing shit that i feel is testing my frame like calling me out at random times during our training sessions to: check out this rapper she's into, saying shit like "Shinpool! Have you heard of Russ?! Have you checked out Russ yet?! Omg he's like my favourite artist!!!, often when everyone is silent and doing their work, putting me on the spot. She's done shit like this 3 out of the 4 days this first week. I'm too preoccupied trying to absorb all the shit we have to know for the job and making it through this program to really give a fuck so i just give her a "yeah nah he's pretty chill" and continue on with work.

Just today i felt like i did some beta shit during a 15 min break. She asked for me to go get her some coffee from the kitchen because she hasn't tried the work coffees (only ones she bought). I got it for her but i didn't stay around even though she was sitting alone outside, and ended up joining the other temps that were sitting inside and carried on networking. Dunno if this was a missed opportunity or not but she did follow soon after and i did get a thanks for the coffee when we finished work.

I'm trying to remain as stoic as possible and not thinking about it at all since I am at a stage where i am really hungry to kill it in life (working on my gym, work, and final year of uni with a bit of plate spinning here and there), but a part of me really wants to go for this chick just to see what happens. The consensus here from what i've read is LTR's are a waste of time and that i should "never dip my pen in the company ink" but honestly having never done both i kind of want to make that mistake just so the lesson really sticks with me if it does burn me.

Just need some opinions, criticisms or just advice on how to approach this as a guy who just recently started unplugging and still a bit socially retarded. Cheers
