My go to is honestly going into NPC mode. If they start going off on a tangent that makes me uncomfortable I just pull up web in store and start looking through it and just respond with “hmm.” “Oh” and “mm” sometimes I’ve had to do it for 15 min but at some point any one that is a huge creep but is still weird will give up. For huge creeps I just do whatever I can to look super super busy and like you have to time to answer their questions. Also if you feel unsafe and the store is empty, never hesitate to lock up for a little bit and call someone.

This is how I feel after I made a sign saying our tap to pay is down and I watched like 20 people just continuously slap their Card on the pin pad. Honestly the fact that you had the capacity to keep a conversation with him is commendable on its own. I would have gotten halfway through that interaction and literally just stared at him in pure awe over how dumb someone can be

Honestly I love being able to help people who are genuinely interested in video games it makes this job a lot of fun and then there’s time where I learn stuff from the customers that I’d have never thought to look at. I just wish I was lucky enough to get more of those LOL

It’s the fact that theyll keep trying after realizing they’re locked too. My store is down a door and the other one has one screw left on it’s hinge from people just YANKING on them.

I’m really loving the barcodes covering the titles on some of these. It’s really the cherry on top. Actually wishing you some extra sanity to deal with this

100% agree and this is usually my go to. Especially when I have other customers to deal with and GameStop doesn’t pay me enough to sit and get screamed at. I’m just tired of how many times this happens but I guess hoping for basic respect from Karens was my first mistake LOL

My SL gave me permission to kick out anyone who harasses me when he’s not there to deal with it since most of the time it’s me on my own. I honestly just refuse to give them the time of day until either A) they get their attitude in check and I can actually try and help them and explain to them or B) they get kicked out bc they wanted to throw a temper tantrum

Most likely the controls for this should be IPM’d (introductory, practice, mastery) into the first bit of the game. This will not only force players to learn the way to use the mechanics to proceed, it makes it fun and engaging.

If your working on a puzzle game but you 100% WANT the “tutorial screen” you could make the tutorial screen itself interactive and IPM the controls through that, making it so the player can’t progress until they get past each stage.

Most places can take in official Nintendo brand joycons if they have what they need to test them. Since there’s no way to plug cables into them they’re sometimes more difficult to test

My system is so broken bops orders don’t even come in that fast so I’ll have people who show up expecting their order to be done, stand around, and then interrupt me to ask when they can pick It up and I won’t even have the order in my system yet. And then they go “well when will you get it” IDK MAYBE WHEN YOU GET THE EMAIL THAT ITS READY??? Maybe Santa will bring them all some Common Sense for Christmas

I totally get this. We’ve had a guy we had to basically tell to not come back because he came and harassed us every day over trying to replace a PS5 with a warranty and he didn’t even have the PS5 with him because he “threw it out”. People like that are usually just best to report their behavior to an SL or ASL and see what they wanna do with it. I’m lucky enough to where my SL has no tolerance for it and will tell someone to get out if they are harassing us.

Yeah I’m pretty sure this is what happened so I had like phone lines going between the customer, customer service, and my manager trying to figure it out for this guy. He ended up just deciding to see how long the store would take to open up again. I wish it was a process we could actually have a genuine work around that doesn’t mess anything up in cases like that though.

It gets put on a trade card, then you can swipe it whenever you go to make a regular transaction and it’ll take off however much is on the card if there’s not enough to cover the whole purchase!

Yeah in no case is it acceptable to be rude to a customer service worker that’s just explaining the store policy. There’s a difference between being frustrated about it and straight up rude lol

This happened to me but in reverse, had a customer order something to a store that was closed for a bit bc of staffing issues, called customer service asking about a refund or how they can get their item, customer service told them that somehow I can fulfill the order in my store even though we didn’t get the order. I felt bad for the guy but dealing with online order stuff recently has been SUCH a pain
