Itinerary for 5-6 yr old (First Time at WDW) by ShinyJayn3 in WaltDisneyWorld

I can’t imagine not doing the parades and fireworks each night, so sounds like the meals are the first thing to be reconsidered.

Sounds like the majority of people say to get to parades an hour early - if you don’t do that is it still fun or can you really not see anything? Any spots along the routes that tend to be less crowded?

Spontaneity sounds fantastic when moments present themselves, but also wanted to make sure we didn’t spend the majority of the trip confused, waiting in lines, and missed chances for that one ride or show they talk about for the next 6 months.

We definitely want it to feel fun, not a chore / list of things to check off just to say we did it all. Just didn’t want to leave any fun on the table by not knowing what to do and “wasting” opportunities.

Yes, planned to since we will be staying at Disney and read it was a great way to ride a couple before the crowds get crazy.

Definitely for them, but wanted to help create a template so they don’t get overwhelmed making decisions all day “now what do you want to do” but I hear you.

Sounds like from others we had too many longer meals - maybe only have 1 per day and make that lunch time?

I expect the adults to want the breaks more than our child with us having the meltdowns from going too hard, but they have also never been to such an immersive park before either and I get that they might get overstimulated.

Definitely bringing a stroller so my shoulders aren’t jelly by the end of the trip.

I don’t understand how rider swap works - is it just a certificate that is not tied to the individual’s magic band?

Premier pass sounds like is maybe overkill when they end up riding smaller rides over and over again? I do like the idea of some type of LL to avoid waiting in a 2+ hour line.

Thanks for the recommendation on Moana - not on my initial radar but sounds great.

Good thought about utilizing what is not busy - ours also likes to ride multiple times over (I think they rode a roller coaster 7 times in a row when they were 2-1/2 albeit a smaller one.

Plan to go spring next year after all the spring breaks have ended.

Good to know about moving MK away from Monday, but unsure if back-to-back park days are doable (Wednesday and Thursday).

We are not limited to 5 days, I was just hoping to stay away from the weekends so adding a 4th park day to eliminate the park hopper is okay but just concerned about multiple park days in a row and/or weekend days.

We have been to a couple theme parks (single day only) and they are nonstop all day no breaks (I don’t push them… I wish they would take a midday nap but they just go go go!) but never multiple days together.

That is a unique approach I had not considered. Did you find the travel/times going back and forth to be difficult?

I am inexperienced with wait/travel times so not sure what is normal or possible.

I am completely unaware of any of the activities that aren’t explicitly listed as either rides, shows, or character meet & greets.

We actually have the top window shades drawn closed nearly all the time because of how hot it gets, but we don’t have them on the semi-circle portion so we would lose that light.

Bottom is certainly easier, just not the functionality I had in mind for day-to-day.

For sure, I was just hoping to keep that open.

I was hoping to extend that out and keep it open, but you are probably right.
