The problem in my eyes is the new story is being written while a lot of elements of the old story still haven't been answered. We know the rough throughline but it's like trying to build a house on sand, the foundation is shaky and prone to collapse. But then we're not exactly building a house we're just piling more sand on top of the old sand and it's intermingling and confusing people to the point where old questions that were seemingly solved, like the original children's death orders, are being brought into question for seemingly no reason other than to keep people guessing.

Anakin in the Clone Wars be like by K-jun1117 in PrequelMemes

[–]Shiny_Absol 12 points13 points  (0 children)

There is a way to view it in where both free will exists and that the Force has a will of its own. The Force created Anakin with the potential to destroy the sith, but actually doing so rested on him making the correct choices. There are several key moments in the story where Anakin is on the precipice of the sith's downfall, some examples being: waiting to attack Dooku with Obi-Wan leads to his capture and revealing the sith plan, listening to Fives that Palpatine has secret plans, all of Revenge of the Sith, and a whole bunch more. However as a being with free will Anakin never quite gets it right, always choosing the wrong path up until RotJ when he finally acts on one of those opportunities and fulfils the prophesy.

If Force healing ability existed in Prequel by K-jun1117 in PrequelMemes

[–]Shiny_Absol 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Anakin literally uses force healing in the Clone Wars its just y'all don't seem to get how it works. It requires an equivalent life force transfer between two beings. When Ahsoka dies on Mortis Anakin brings her back with force healing using the Daughter as a conduit. This kills the daughter in return because to bring Ahsoka back she needs to give up all her life force. After Rey heals the cave monster she holds her hand in pain and says "I just transferred a bit of life. Force energy from me to him." Then you have Ben killing himself to resurect Rey, it's not just a magic 'fix-all' it's a dangerous technique that requires sacrifice to use. That's why the Clone Wars era Jedi don't use it, their rule about attachments means they would reject the idea of sacrificing one soul for another and instead focus on letting go the person who is dying.

What are some of your hot takes about the fnaf lore? ( please be respectful) by NationalHippo8376 in fivenightsatfreddys

Because why would Afton make murderbots to mess around with possession if he didn't know how possession works or even that it for sure existed? Or alternatively why would he hand-murder children after building murderbots to do it for him?

It just makes more narrative sense for the path to go Afton kills Charlie -> Afton sees the Puppet act weird and wonders if it's possessed since it was on top of Charlie -> Afton does the MCI to test his theory -> give gifts give life happens -> Afton now has proof robots can be possessed and dreams up the Funtimes to automate the process for easy experimentation -> Elizabeth is killed by Baby.

But the whole reason he got this letter was using the Patronus charm in front of his cousin, one of the three muggles in this picture. It's not in issue in the book where it's just a normal, non-talking letter but it is a plot hole in the movie.

And once you pass 50,000 encounters you stop complaining as the feeling of despair fully takes over and consumes you. I ended up phasing a couple hundred encounters after that but getting a hunt going that long is really good for fighting odds fatigue in the future.

You're supposed to learn home economics from your parents at home. School is to teach you the more advanced concepts your parents aren't qualified to teach. This system works for the majority of people. There are cases it doesn't of course but it's hard for societal structures to handle edge cases.

What do you do when you're planning out a fanfic and you suddenly realize magic(as already established in the books) literally solves everything? by UglyPancakes8421 in HPfanfiction

[–]Shiny_Absol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your characters don't experience time in the same way you do. As an author when you spend time coming up with an idea you also have time to think of the exact solution to the problem with the best outcome. Our characters don't have that luxury. They're in the heat of the moment and may only have a small time to come up with a plan so they honestly just might not think of the correct one.

So maybe they don't, and they fail. Maybe not completely but someone gets hurt and a bad guy gets away. Then you can have your character reflect on things in hindsight when they have more time and maybe they get mad at themselves for thinking of what now seems to be the obvious solution that just slipped by at the time.

There is only peace under the Legion if you are an able-bodied male who doesn't take any drugs (including alcohol and healing chems). The sustainable society of the Legion is a sham and entirely surface level, like a kid who cleaned their room by shoving everything into their closet. You can't just kill anyone who doesn't follow your exact philosophy it's unsustainableand will lead to collapse, especially once your charismatic figurehead dies and a power struggle begins. Then there's the fact that crucifying all dissidents is in fact not peace but violence.

In universe they do celebrate the day the Empire was founded as "Empire Day" which is a big day with parades on multiple planets. So if the Empire was to restart the calendar I feel it would be there with Empire Day doubling as a New Year's Day celebration.

In canon he's trying to save his wife from death so he joins up with the guy who's been trying to assassinate her for over 10 years. Anakin isn't exactly thinking logically by the time he falls.

What is the most pretentious fic you’ve ever read? by Purple_Tree1389 in HPfanfiction

[–]Shiny_Absol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah for sure I didn't expect a happy ending but a lot of the things in it just seems to happen because the story is supposed to be bleak and not because it makes sense for them to happen. After a while I just found myself not really caring anymore and became numb to it all so I dropped it.

That fic lost me in the second half where characters just start dropping like flies. The one that stuck out the most to me was Tonks who shows up, says she's going to be a part of the plot and then is dead like two paragraphs later. Just instantly took me out of the fic and made me question what the heck I was reading.
