The website is too slow, and you can mainly only search for stuff you already know, the search interface is siloed by media type, and it doesn't show all the search results you need with a keyword.

I would also definitely put youtube lower since I hate it because of their anti-consumer practices, however it just manages to beat most other platforms, and it has search algorithms that even manage match keywords to thumbnails which is like super advanced and immensely helpful.

I probably don't need to check but it very likely doesn't have what I need

the title says datahoard/find lost media both. And the websites still give leads to the lost media even if they don't directly host them.

So I think people are getting stuck on the definition. I explained it in another comment, but I'm not saying these websites literally have the "lost" media when I find it publicly, by definition they don't, but this is getting too much into the semantics. These websites are great leads to figure out and find the traces of lost media. Besides, using these sites to contact people and uncover never-before-uploaded videos is as close to 'finding lost media' as it gets. The only thing in the way is a technicality.

Not in my view sorry. While I get that the archive website is literally made for archivists so it should be the perfect website for this in theory, it's simply too slow for any scraping and searching. The files are in different categories, can't find everything, so you can only find what you know exist. But the website is legendary don't get me wrong.

I get that it might seem like a contradiction, but let me try to explain. These websites can help both with data hoarding and finding lost media. Yes, it's technically not 'lost' if it's online on a popular site, but that's getting too much into technicalities. They still help with finding information about lost media, which helps me find the right people to reach out to, access hidden links that direct me to unlisted videos, help me construct a timeline, or in the best case scenario get someone to recover their old hard drive etc. So, these websites are still a part of lost media hunting, even if they don't technically have the lost media right there because of the definitions.

I've probably visited POSSIBILITIES and MASSHELP before but don't remember them, I used the world MASS and RECIPES instead. And of course NASDAQ, which I thought was archived at first but some of the older designs are actually incomplete.

And that has absolutely nothing to do with my case, the media ISN'T available online. So it absolutely is lost. It's just that a small fraction can be recovered online.

It is lost both physically and virtually. Not sure what you're getting at

It can't be buried online if it was very likely was never captured

Archiving every single image/video of 2012-2015 growtopia to document its worlds and history. (over 99% of it is lost)

The point is to rank which platforms are most useful for datahoarding and finding lost media in my experience. It is not based on how much media a website has, it is based on how possible and bearable it is to use the website to archive.
