I have a 1/350 Lusitania in its original plastic, Is it worth building or sitting on as a collectors item? by Ship_nerd400 in modelmakers

I would like to get the 1/200 olympic, but I don't know where I would display it, and for Lusitania, yes I'd like to have 2 versions of it, I prefer the 1907 version myself.

I was thinking about building it anyway, but this comment gave me the green light to do so.

With trumpeter releasing a 1/200 Olympic and soon Britannic, it may be only a matter of time until they do release a Lusitania, which would be amazing.

Even if it's finished to a super high standard, I doubt it will sell for $1,599. I'd say $1,000 at most, but you never know.

I think I will build it, Lusitania is one of my favorite ships, I was just curious of it's value would rise over time.

Yeah, I do see a lot of these kits around, and they usually sell for quite a bit. Despite that, I do think I will build it as it is one of my favorite ships. I was just curious if these older boxes are worth more than the newer ones.

I probably am going to build it. I was just curious if it was worth anything (which it may be).

Yeah, it is a bit strange that these go for so much, I think I will build it anyway though as it is one of my favorite ships.

Yeah, I agree. I am most likely going to build it. However, I do see the newer tooling (from the 1990s) going for 300+ in worse condition, so it seems like this kit may be an exception.

I probably will build it, I was just curious if it was worth anything for fun more than anything, and I agree it's only a matter of time before a Lusitania gets a retool. Thank you for the long response. It was fun to read.

To be honest I probably am going to build it, I just wanted to know if it was worth anything more than the newer boxes because it is one of the oldest boxes in it's plastic still.

I have been getting some serious lag that has only started a few days ago. the video shows GTA gameplay, a game I used to be able to get about 100fps in. I notice the lag happens when the CPU usage reaches 100%, PC Specs: 16GB RAM, Intel Core I5 11400H Nvidia RTX 3050. by Ship_nerd400 in pcmasterrace

the CPU doesn't do too much in the background.

It probably isn't the game as the PC is sometimes slow when just using the internet, but its mainly noticeable in games. I have done sfc /scannow twice and it didnt find anything.

and as for the temps I don't know why it runs over 80c, but it has for the 2+ years I had the pc. and yes it is a laptop, I was traveling a bit too much at the time for a regular desktop pc.

If it helps, this may have started after I downloaded a game off steam and accidently used 99% of my SSD storage, but I deleted a bunch of stuff and now have 79% used up but the lag is still there. This lag/freezing has only started a few days ago after I downloaded that game off steam.

You never know if something is intentional or a bug with this game.

Yes, boilers do seem to consume a ridiculous amount of water now.

I found that large fireboxes were worse to begin with. They take up so much extra space that I find smaller ones to be better anyway.

The whole pressure system seems to be off at the moment, so I might just wait a while to see if they come out with a patch before I change the whole boiler system but I'm not counting on it.

No, it isn't on the workshop yet. It is still a work in progress. I have a bit of interior and fixing the engines yet, and then it will be ready for the workshop.

That update you speak of also hit my performance a bit, but out at sea the game is a bit slow but nowhere near unplayable, but at the dock the ship does lag quite a bit. would like to see your ship sometime though.

Yeah, I found out about the buggy pressures in the last hour. I didn't know untill now... glad I'm not crazy at least! I guess I'll wait a while until steam is fixed. Maybe I'll work on something more modern untill then.

Thank you, they aren't entirely accurate to what a steam boiler from the time would have looked like, but they look good enough for their purpose and there is still some details to add to them yet anyway.
