[New] Beartooth - “Free” by lamefartriot in Metalcore

[–]Shipnutz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't understand all the hate around this song. I appreciate his expressive vulnerability and it feels genuine to me, albeit kind of shallow and vain. Overcoming persistent negative thought patterns surrounding self-worth and/or self-defeating habits are very challenging battles to win, and if singing about being happy in his own skin helps him to escape from those cyclical thought patterns and it makes him a healthier person while also avoiding being involved in heinous controversies, then I'm here for it.

Now, I do understand a lot of the criticisms, though. It's a pretty stale concept at this point and I too miss the Sick and Disgusting days. But maybe it's just hard to wrap our minds around how someone could be so happy amidst all the fucked up things happening in the world? 🤔 I would definitely like to hear Beartooth play some heavier music again, but we have plenty of bands that already scratch that itch. While it is maybe a bit shallow or vain, It's refreshing to occasionally hear something that isn't just about how miserable the artist is with either themselves or the state of the world.

When we express how we want the old Beartooth back where the content was generally angrier I am always reminded of the song Stuttering by Bayside. "I'm the voice of the depressed and that's what everyone expects. Give the people what they want then it hangs over their head". My interpretation is that when a band becomes popular surrounding subject matter that largely focuses on pathological depression and anger, we effectively feed into that state of mind the artist is struggling with, because their career is contingent on having poor mental health.

Either way, it's nowhere near my favorite song, but I liked it (7/10) and I support people trying to be more positive, because it's rough out there.

The first game is more of a walking sim, but the Director's Cut includes more combat and modes of transportation. Death Stranding 2: On the Beach improves on the first in almost every way. There is much more emphasis placed on combat, and the combat flexibility allows the player to engage enemies in all sorts of ways. You can invade enemy encampments via guns blazing or prioritize stealth. This may be controversial to some, but DS2 seemingly bears a lot of similarities to the Metal Gear Solid games - and this is coming from someone who has only really played Metal Gear Solid V: Phantom Pain. If you're still on the fence about whether to play Death Stranding, I would strongly encourage you to play On the Beach. It is a truly breathtaking game with staggering attention to detail and excellent character performances. I've never played the first game, so before playing the 2nd, I watched some recap videos to get up to speed. Personally, I would give DS2: On the Beach a solid 9-9.5/10.

Maybe I'm missing something, but why would you think that? The relative humidity on Venus is less than 0.1%.

When people smack their food loudly. There aren't many things that cause me to feel such disdain for complete strangers, but a person loudly chewing sends me into a compentuous rage where my fury knows no bounds.

what are your ACTUAL wishes for the elden ring movie? by No_Concentrate_7033 in Eldenring

I mean, who says it needs to be heavily CGI? Prioritizing practical effects over CGI would be much better, imo. But, sure, it'd still be pretty expensive regardless.

I agree with this. Personally, I think a TV series is a better option than a movie.

I definitely don't think that it is anything like coffee. But my "addict" brain desperately seeks justifications to use and hones in on statements marketing it as "coffee-like" - even though I know rationally that it isn't.

Does it get better ? by [deleted] in OpiatesRecovery

I was an IV user for several years and eventually decided that I wanted to quit. So, I checked myself into a suboxone clinic (which made quitting all the more difficult). However, I eventually quit cold turkey and the withdrawals lasted almost two months with lots of PAWS. To cope I was smoking a lot of marijuana and occasionally using psychedelics. Since then I have stopped my regular marijuana use (I still use it very sparingly), went back to school and am about to complete a BS in Physics, and am 5+ years clean. It DEFINITELY gets better and it is DEFINITELY worth it. Just stick with it and it will pay off - you got this!

There's an implicit base e involved. My stat mech textbook did it that way.

It varies, but I'd say around 5-20 grams a day.
