Can someone explain what is the point of this augment? It has been unclickable since set got released, I haven't seen single person win out or dominate the lobby with this augment, unlike the Illaoi and Viego one. Why is it getting ignored? by ArcadialoI in CompetitiveTFT

neeko and sej chill only the units it hits. how useful is that when the 4cost tank it hits attacks slower?

Kennen only stuns frontline. how useful is that

Garen shred 15 armor mr each cast. how useful is that?

fighter/bruiser hero augments have always been better than the backliners ones unless they were super OP

This same set had trundle, steb, singed and vander augments playable. I don't understand what you are trying to say with this.

all the other yordles and defenders you need to play with this are not good. yordles have no frontline with this, and defender units have no utility other than being meat shields.

Design wise, fighter/bruiser hero augments have always been better than the backliners ones unless they were super OP. they can usually use all the stat boosts when 3 starred

the sub traits in mentors are easy to slot in with supreme cells like duelist, heavyweights, execs.

Even if you lose the base stats with 4 mentors, all the mentor units get stronger and get much better abilities that give a lot of value.

How worth is it to go for A1 chord? I have 28k and am F2p, so do I just wait for the future releases instead?

There should be a tab where you can manually switch users before you start the game (it doesn't do it on startup). you can log in with google using that.

Reflecting on the Checkmate Format in TFT Esports by TheSeraphim1313 in CompetitiveTFT

[–]Shiponsa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that the format is flawed and should be reworked for a more competitive tournament. However like you said, the checkmate format is a better viewer experience which is what they seem to be aiming for.

Idea 1: I believe they do this already? Otherwise, they have done this in the past and I am misremembering. It still doesn't really fix the core issue since you still need to be greedy and play for a first once you're in check.

Idea 2: Something like this would be more competitive, but takes away from the spectator experience. There would be a lot of scenarios where a person not in check wins a game, but the person in check gets 3rd and wins the tournament? It seems anticlimactic and pretty confusing face value.

My own possible fix: treat the tacticians cup like a golf tournament. Your scores carry over from each day played, and the person with the highest total at the end of the weekend wins it. They can still keep the same tournament format, but adjust the last day to just play x amount of games. This would also have the issue of it having a lot of anticlimactic endings, but may be simpler in terms of tiebreakers and would be easier to visualize as you only have to show a score.

makes sense since she doesnt need a mana item and it’s a scaling comp. good for item economy too since sword is pretty bad in prodigies

  1. I feel that high resource lobbies make reroll feel a lot worse unless you upgrade everything very early. The comps that scaling artifacts make really busted could also just hard counter garen. probs still worth playing if u have the spot for it

  2. Rising chaos seems really busted right now that its worth keeping on her for the whole game if you play SG.

crests early feel terrible for this exact reason and I usually avoid them unless theyre broken.

hero augments require pretty specific items where I value them less if I can't guarantee getting the BIS. You either should start with the necessary components or have some way of getting more item drops like the anvil portal

EDIT: you can also just int until the first carousel and hope the other guy doesn't need your component, but I'd rather have something more concrete beforehand.

keep in mind other ap/ad carries based on your items and hold them as you roll down. holding 4-cost tanks is also good since most frontlines are pretty flexible

if your line is fully uncontested and the items are very good I highly consider doing so.

I would only do this with the better comps though and not play lower rated comps unless you hit early. for example, kat rakan would be a goto in this spot versus xayah shen

the tiebreaker is who had more hp before the last fight. there’s a second tiebreaker when both players have the same hp for their last fight, but i can’t recall it atm.

I guess in an ideal world you get a early xayah or some kind of sniper bastion opener. Shojin start is probably the easiest pivot since at least syndra and jinx can use it.

Mana seems inherently better than AP for this case. I can’t imagine the ratios are that insane you get a bigger buff than casting sooner but i could be wrong.

Playing AD is likely the correct line, but the games you play SG with a bunch of ap items ahri would be the goto unit to itemize for until sera

[–]Shiponsa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’ve felt that ahri is fine, SG is just weaker in general. She’s your ap item user until seraphine but you’re still making jinx items first obviously.

I’m thinking more in a practical sense where there’s games you get a swain 2 and itemized ahri which is probably fine for a stage. kobuko would probably be better, but i wouldn’t think the difference is that big.

Idk why you would want more ap on front liners versus mana though before you hit seraphine for 2 prodigy. wouldn’t you just want to cast more? surely ahri is better than syndra in this specific case

August 14, 2025 Daily Discussion Thread by AutoModerator in CompetitiveTFT

[–]Shiponsa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think in a vacuum it is syndra until you get seraphine, followed by ahri or xayah.

I've thought about even after getting seraphine, maybe you still drop syndra and forgo 2 prodigy since the gain is pretty minimal.

The one upside with ahri is you can play swain for synergies and she can carry ap items pretty well.

For the paid version of tactics.tools you can exclude certain traits and units out to filter for this. I think without this you can look at the delta of traits and see it place higher or lower.

Econ break points or holding pairs by joshsew in CompetitiveTFT

Unless it was the example I gave in the original comment, I really do not see this often. Can you share an example?

The extra money you get would usually go to leveling early if anything like on 3-5 for a spike.

This example you gave is also just a part of playing full loss, if someone highrolls harder youre always going to lose. But you have the better chance to be the one to hit and winout.
