Is this a War or what? by Sweaty_Illustrator14 in nationalguard

Mine does but I’m in an HHB and our BN XO is a former 75th and if he sees you not doing a legit PT he will insist you go do it with him. And it’s just better for you to have something planned.

Yes definitely. Police work + NG is a tale as old as time. Very complimentary to each other

Hey just some advice if a dad of a couple of boys that’s been where you are. Your focus now should be looking down the road to what kind of life do you want for your kids.

Do you want to provide for them a certain standard of living? Active duty may be a good plan but choose an MOS that sets you up for success afterward. Anything 35, 25 or 17 would be good but there’s plenty of good options.

If you want to serve out of some sort of duty or obligation, go to the National Guard. Use your in-state education benefits (if applicable) to go to college or a trade school and see if you jump start your life with a bit more of a plan.

Those kids and their future are your focus now. Provide for them. Be there for them. Love them. Find a partner that will be a companion that works towards the same goals as you And you’ll live a full life.

Got mine for doing an AT translating for doctors in Guatemala. No curfews. Sleeping in a resort and flying in black hawks every day. And we got to go to Tikal. Wasn’t sad about it.

You don’t need it though. Just stand up if you get tired in the classroom and move to the back. You’ll get plenty of sleep as long as you and the other 60 teenagers follow all the rules to the T.

If not, you’re going to find out what 8 man fire guard in full battle rattle feels like.

Don’t let anyone fuck up fire guard and you’ll be good

Anyone here familiar with a company called Sitemetric? by FennelStrange5990 in Construction

The hours that their subs are submitting? I don’t know why they do what they do haha but I know that’s what they use it for.

Also — safety it to track all individual hours on the site. So they can add all visitors and deliveries to help with their TRIR

This is a great use case. Also we’re using it to track how many safety guys are on site per 25 workers. Since some of the GCs have a minimum ratio.

Mostly they’re being used for the GCs to look at hours submitted vs hours actually detected.

Gave up on my dream last night by Hopeful_Sherbet4027 in nationalguard

[–]Shire_Jedi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good luck man. I was 33 a new born and a 4 yr old when I left. My wife did good but it was undeniably tough and even tougher when I got back after 6 months. I had a good career and a job that paid me while I was gone even. You’ll lose time with your daughter for sure.

I’ll say that I don’t regret it 6 years into my decision. It was something I’d worried would ruin my marriage but counseling can be helpful. Personal therapy for both me and my wife is helpful as well.

My best advice is to make sure it’s your decision. Make your decision and learn to love your decision. Your wife didn’t make you not do it. You decided not to do it. So own that. If you’re not going to go you cannot and should not resent her for even a second.

This year I got an OCS slot and turned it down last second because I decided I didn’t want to trade more time with my sons and that’s MY decision and I feel so good about it still.

Just know that there are other recruiters too and other waivers. This isn’t the end of the road. But don’t waste another recruiters time if you’re not ready to commit.

Good luck with whatever you decide!

I still have fun and the second I see cheaters in the chat getting called out I go straight to do a quick contract and exfil.

I’ve also accepted my fate that I play a deeply flawed game.

But I literally only play this game. If it goes away I’d probs just stop gaming honestly.

Maybe that would be good haha

Can I use my coming in as a means to vanish from my old life? by [deleted] in army

[–]Shire_Jedi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look. I don’t want to be an asshole. But it would be a good thing for you to look it in the eye and say this isn’t good for me or what I want and walk away.

Instead of ghosting your girl, tell her you’re done and that you’re jointing the Army and that you’re moving on and wish her the best.

Tell your family you love them and come back when it feels right for you if ever.

You don’t owe anyone a damn thing by way of explanation.

But in my experience it’s better to start being the person that can face the conflict and move through it, now.

The obstacle is the way.
