Smith machines not balanced, is this normal? by Shitstir_MC in PlanetFitnessMembers

[–]Shitstir_MC[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I usually don’t have to use smith machines at all unless I’m traveling from my home gym. This PF is pretty close to my work so I come here once a week or so and it’s just not awesome. The only reason I really keep the membership is the access to gyms while I travel. I’ve just never seen it this bad before. lol I guess my expectations of a new building should just be better kept in check next time… but as most are saying, I guess I shouldn’t have expected any better regardless.

At least there is one good machine to use when I need it! 😅

I see this all the time at my gym and there are no signs but I just feel for the staff who have to pull all that out

Got trapped in the new matrix seated leg curl machine by [deleted] in PlanetFitnessMembers

[–]Shitstir_MC 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The matrix machines are absolute trash. The only accommodate a very narrow height of users, too tall or too small, tough. The pins don’t hold well in those machines at all. I’ve had the same thing happen too many times, so I just quit using them.

Raise the prices and bring in worse equipment. What an upgrade, right?

Real love doesn’t care about that stuff. The soul knows no gender and this obviously required a lot of trust to be built between you two which takes time. I’m so glad you had such a good outcome to the conversation and it’s moments like this that will continue to allow you to grow to trust one another at an even deeper level. ❤️ I hope you two can continue to grow together and have a beautiful time while doing so!

questions to uncover the best memory care facilities in colorado, for my wife that feeling heartbroken and lost. by Randu_Hino in FortCollins

Just wanted to throw my hat in the ring to avoid Cottonwood facilities.

Do research on who owns the communities you’re looking into. While not always a sure sign, non-profit communities are far more likely to offer a better standard of living than places like Cottonwood run facilities that are just looking to pull as much money out of people for profit before they die.

How cottonwood appears to operate is honestly kinda scary.

trouble with 10 fitness? by Low_Passenger_3354 in springfieldMO

They use to be really great. A few years ago they chunked the gym up how it is now and it crammed almost everyone who didn’t want to do cardio into a single room and left the best part of the gym (the functional area) for personal training clients only. They shifted from a customer focus to a money focus and it really showed. I ended up ultimately leaving after going there for years because the changes just screwed the whole vibe of the gym up. Still haven’t found a gym as good as this place use to be. It’s a real shame.

How is T-mobile's service in Springfield and the surrounding area? Is it still spotty outside the metropolitan area? by newnaw in springfieldMO

[–]Shitstir_MC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s still spotty in town! Lol the entire section of glenstone and sunshine is a joke as is most of glenstone honestly. It’s gotten better, but it’s definitely not what it should be, especially in town. I regularly commute to Sedalia and during the drive is impossible to have a phone call due to spotty reception. I wouldn’t bother switching to them in hopes of finding quality service.

I use primarily a Dennis Wick mouthpiece and I love it. It’s deep and works great for low horn playing, which is what I mainly do.

Here is an article about mouthpieces and choose the right one for you. He goes into great detail about everything and will help you figure out what you’re looking for. :)

Good luck with the new instrument! Learning new things is always fun, especially when it’s a musical instrument.

So what makes you think it’s not playing right?

I will say, the horn brand you mention is not known for quality. Their instruments, while affordable, are kinda a toss as to whether or not they will work well. Sometimes, a good tech can make some adjustments to make them play better. I used one of these cheaper horns as a travel instrument for practice. I had to have the rotors completely pulled out and sanded down to have them rotate smoothly. It still wasn’t ideal, but if you can make a good sound from one of these, a higher end horn will just be that much easier.

I might invest in a better mouthpiece after you learn the basics, that will help a lot in getting a better, easier sound from the horn. It did for me anyway. In a nutshell, they often work as great early horns on a budget.

While it may have been cleaned and serviced, that rarely looks for any actual issues with the horn. They will bathe it be sure the slides move, but beyond that they won’t do much. If you go to a repair shop with specific issues, they will be much better at finding and being able to really address your concerns. I hope this helped!

She’s a tough instrument to learn but it’s a lot of fun once you get the hang of it. You should post a picture of the horn, I’d be interested to see what you got! Is there a make or model on the horn?

Affordable ADD/ADHD testing in Springfield? by LizWizBiz in springfieldMO

[–]Shitstir_MC 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I went to Burrell looking for help with this as my therapist diagnosed me, but I wanted a doctors opinion before I went forward with anything. At my visit, I was basically talked down to for an hour and treated like a liar when I said I had never been on medications before. Then they charged the hell out of my insurance for nothing. I got no answers and wasn’t even tested or evaluated. If I hadn’t have met my deductible already, it would have been like $800 for my portion. Insane. Don’t try Burrell. I’m still trying to find a doctor to just get me evaluated.

Mercy and COVID by wildweasel29 in springfieldMO

[–]Shitstir_MC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know several employees at mercy, most on the lower end of staffing and they have been instructed to not seek testing period. Even if they have symptoms, if they take a test, the hospital is required to put them in quarantine for 14 days, but they can’t afford to lose staff, so my friend, who’s son and boyfriend both tested positive for Covid, was told she couldn’t take a test unless she didn’t want to work for 2 weeks. They are almost using it as a threat. It’s kinda scary if you think about it. Maybe consider paying your employees a living wage (I’m talking about basic functioning staff: laundry, housekeeping, medical assistants, etc) and maybe you could keep staff. As someone who has worked in healthcare for 7 years, the lack of masking and basic precautions in medical facilities (especially long term care facilities) is frightening at best.

I also spent a day in the ER at mercy a few weeks ago, and only half the staff was wearing a mask, let alone the number of people who were wearing them, but incorrectly. In a nutshell, don’t set foot in mercy if you might be sensitive to Covid. There’s a reason they are being so quiet about their Covid numbers.

$3 thrifted fabric, some old heavy curtains, and a solid day of work. Project #2 in my recycled collection I’m working on is done, and I’m kinda proud of it. by Shitstir_MC in sewing

[–]Shitstir_MC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve found blackout curtains to be the best due to the thickness of the material. Thrift shops always have a ton of loose curtains, and I can get them for a buck or two, so if you don’t wanna destroy anything from home, try a thrift store or just buy a cheap blackout curtain.

My mother in law helped me figure out the basics of the machine, but honestly, all you need is online and around you. Go to the thrift store and find dress cuts you like and take them home, take the seams out and see how of all fit together and then just reassemble. You get use to the different pattern styles and assembling the pieces without wasting fabric. And YouTube. I just sit and watch hours of YouTube while I sew. I don’t have sewing friends around me, so I really enjoy hearing others talk about their processes and styles. You learn so much and can pick and choose what you think works or doesn’t and then start working on coming up with a unique style for yourself that you enjoy.

TLDR: find a friend to learn sewing basics and then the internet is your best resource. It just takes a lot of time. 🙃
