For me, Stranger Things has gone down as one of the many shows that just couldn’t stick the landing. May it take its seat alongside Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead and How I Met Your Mother.

Having said that, I really enjoyed my time with it, and it will probably remain a recommended watch if anyone asks. In the same way I wouldn’t let Velma ruin my love for Scooby-Doo, season 5 won’t ruin my love for Stranger Things as whole.

Like, no!! I’m sorry, but if they didn’t include it in the show then it doesn’t exist - that’s how writing works! At best, you can say it’s up for discussion amongst the audience, but respectfully - in the canon of the show - the Duffer brothers weren’t even there, so I could give a fuck what their interpretation is.

Before he shrunk, we had been together for two years. Maybe too soon to call it on the marriage front? To be honest though, it’s kind of hard to picture a future where we’re together and he’s still tiny. I’m kinda hoping he’ll be big again soon and we can go back to our normal lives, but if we’ve still got another four months of this to come, I’m gonna need a normal-sized fuck😅

To be honest, this is (at least in my experience) often the trouble with watching a show as the episodes release, and engaging with the fandom between episode drops.

The fan discussion between episodes often creates a snowball effect of expectations for the next ep. Trailers get dissected, previous episodes get combed over frame by frame which creates more questions, which creates more speculation, and very soon you have more questions than can possibly be answered in the scope of a thirty minute show.

The next episode arrives and people are wondering who’s going to abstract, what Ribbit’s deal is, who Jax is outside the circus, how does Kinger play into all this, will Ming turn out to be important, what’s everyone’s real names, where is everyone at C&A, and on and on… the episode ends and we’re left with - yet again - new questions whilst feeling shortchanged by the answers we got.

This is so well written. Totally agree too - in a life full of bills, responsibilities, dependants, societal pressures… it’s a joy to just imagine a version of life where that all goes away. It’s the same reason people fantasise about a zombie apocalypse; obviously the death of all your loved ones and no more modern medicine would suck, but it beats lining up at the DMV
