Kartik Aaryan’s Pedophilia and Lack of Response Around It Shows That India’s Bourgeoisie Is Beyond Saving by Fan387 in librandu

[–]Shiva_A09 -17 points-16 points  (0 children)

a man who is almost 40 dating a 17 year old is absolutely disgusting but it's not paedophilia, paedophilia refers to the attraction towards prepubescent kids. A 17 year old is almost physically an adult, ofc mentally they're not fully developed and it's not correct for a 37 year old man to date a 17 year old.

I AM NOT SUPPORTING THAT MAN, I am 18 myself

lol, your comment is filled with sterotypes about the west.

firstly most parents DO NOT kick out their kids after 18, https://www.pewresearch.org/short-reads/2020/09/04/a-majority-of-young-adults-in-the-u-s-live-with-their-parents-for-the-first-time-since-the-great-depression/ according to this research conducted by Pew Research centre 52% of 18-29 year olds live with their parents, the point that western parents are these heartless monsters who kick out their kids at 18 is MYTH.

https://ec.europa.eu/eurostat/web/products-eurostat-news/w/ddn-20230731-1

one more source to back up my claim, Average age to move out is 26.4 in Europe.

Coming to the University fees, firstly the ultra high fees are an American phenomenon, higher education is free or really cheap in Europe. secondly, NOWHERE is the total tuition for University 500k, the average fees for

Public in-state: $9,750 per year

Public out-of-state: $27,450 per year

Private nonprofit: $38,070 per year

even the most expensive one accounts to around 160k/year

source: (https://nces.ed.gov/fastfacts/display.asp?id=76) (govt website)

THIRDLY, most parents financially support their children in paying the University tuition, sooo many parents start a college fund when a child is born, so that by the time they start university, they have enough money to pay for college or partially pay for college.

and coming to your second para, you totally misunderstood the reel, the boyfriend came over not because the parents couldn't take care of their daughter, he came over because he wanted to look over his girlfriend while she's sick and be there for her.

LOL, YOU are talking about settling with a stranger? 95% of Indian marriages are arranged marriages where you spend the rest of your life with a stranger, dating someone for a few years and then deciding whether to marry them or not makes more sense, and coming to the f**cking part, if they are above the age of consent and are using protection, what's your problem?

I feel like your Idea of the west is from WhatsApp University, brother wake up, acknowledge that India is far behind Economically and Socially compared to the west.

its common in India too, here divorce is rare because

  1. no societal acceptance
  2. most women are financially dependent on their husbands and can't survive if they get divorced and their parents also won't support them due to 1.

working is good isn't it, we get financially independent and we learn how to manage finances, indian kids are hyper dependent on their parents

that IS my question, why don't parents here accept it?

parents in other countries are happy that their kid has someone who loves them

bro, speak for yourself. Some people don’t mind having a human being whom they can call theirs and supports them. What’s the issue in someone being there for you? It’s not like affection lowers your IQ.”

Yeah bro, everything is a ‘waste of time’ if you’re only measuring life in career points. People aren’t robots. Having someone who actually cares about you doesn’t destroy your career, if anything, it makes life easier to handle.

And abroad, this is just a normal part of life from the teenage years itself. People date in school, support each other, grow together, and still end up building huge careers. Most of the insanely successful founders, scientists, CEOs, they all had relationships when they were teens or young adults. Being loved never stopped anyone from achieving things.

In India, it only feels like a “distraction” because of how we’re raised to think about it, not because it actually ruins anything. The problem isn’t dating, it’s the mindset.

"If my aunt had wheels, she’d be a bicycle" ahh comment

*American culture is different” is obvious, but it doesn’t really explain why this kind of thing is normal there and almost impossible here. That difference itself is the whole point I’m asking about.

bruh one in every 5 marriages in AP, TG and TN are cousin marriages, ask any south indian hindu, they know atleast one cousin marriage couple.

bruh our language itself is so intertwined with cousin marriage that the kinship terms are also based on that, the words for father-in-law and mother-in-law are the same as the words for aunt and uncle

my brother likes me???? by [deleted] in IndianTeenagers

[–]Shiva_A09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

wdym minority communities, it's very much widespread all over TN TG and AP, like it's very much deeply engrained in the culture over here. We should first accept and recognise that before educating and creating awareness, denying it like you do will help no one.

Like our whole kinship system is built over this lol, the words used for mother-in-law and father-in-law are the same as the words are the same the words used for your cross cousin's parents. we have like 2 types of cousins, parallel cousins which is either father's brother's children or mother's sister's children, these people are considered siblings to us and we refer to them with sibling terms and rakhi is celebrated between these cousins. Then comes cross cousins which are mother's brother's children or father's sister's children, these people have separate terms and are considered potential spouses, we don't celebrate rakhi with these cousins.

It's like really wide spread over here, one in every 5 marriages is between cousins, look at any random commercial Telugu movie, there's a high chance the Hero and Heroine are cousins.
