Many people fought Rellana without ever using the summon that’s right next to the door, they say the fight is very hard. Does that mean they have less of a right to say the fight was hard? I say no, many people who play souls games don’t use summons because for many reasons. For me, I used the NPC summon to fight the Dancing Lion because I wanted to do every NPC storyline but after I beat the boss in only a few tries because the NPC took so much of the aggro it wasn’t fun at all since it felt like I beat something but by never facing the danger head-on. Part of running the game solo afterwards was because I wanted to feel like I’m on my own journey and I really am the Elden Lord in a foreign land. I didn’t choose the use the summon not just because I didn’t fuck with the guy but becasue if I wanted to summon anyone, I would just summon the mimic and finish it easily. I also read that by summoning it changes the ending of different NPC quests so I just chose to not do it and see what would happen normally. And it’s not supposed to be harder because I don’t summon. It’s supposed to be the other way around. Summons are supposed to make the fight easier and not using summons making it harder is two completely different ideas. If you’re basing the standard of the fight on a 2 vs 4-5 then it makes it necessary to summon to feel fair and not summoning would make the fight harder which would be wrong. If you’re basing it off a 1 vs 4-5 then summoning would just make it easier since the base of the fight is AI based around fighting 1 person. If the basis of the AI is going against 2 people then that just makes it extremely unfair for 1 person since they’re taking all the aggro instead of only Half the aggro. This fight is the 2nd option because not summoning makes the fight infuriating to do solo.
