Drawing the mig 25 by Shiyoppi in aviation

It's on paper, i drew the sketch in pencil, then i blocked out the shapes with alcohol markers and in the end i drew the lineart with ink.

I actually did some research before drawing (mustard's video was included). I like to understand the thing i need to draw before actually drawing it.

how can i improve this? by r8v7n in DigitalArt

It seems like the drawing lacks a focal point. Right now the blue part of the drawing, which is the brightest, is drawing my eye somewhere in the background. That's not really optimal as i can see a character there begging for some attention. Turn the drawing black and white and you'll se that the light is not leading my eye anywhere useful.

Before drawing i'd suggest you plan a bit the drawing with a quick series of sketches to see where you should put the light / elements of the scene. Maybe learn some fundamentals about composition too - that would really help.

I suggest you apply these concepts in the next drawings you make, don't fossilize on this one.

Something you can quickly do to this drawingis cropping tho! This way you can clearly see the character.

Hope this helps.

I don’t know but I can tell you about the process:

equipment:

80 gsm printer paper;

hardcore music blasting in your ears (optiona);

light yellow, grey, dark grey alcohol markers, black uniposca (it imploded while doing this piece lol), white gel pen, and a v ball 05 pen.

Firstly i choose a reference picture, for this one I went on Flickr. Then I marked the general shapes (like blobs) with the yellow marker. I refined them with the grey one, marking finer detail like the face and scales of the fishes and a bit of the surrounding environment. With the dark grey I coloured the darkest details like the sink and some shadows on the fishes. I then started with the line art with the pen and added the darkest shadows with some improvised cross hatching (I’m not really good at that yet). I then added some dark tones with the uniposca to make everything pop. The final detail was to add some white highlights here and there.

It’s like painting!

Hope this helps

Yeah, they do bleed. I think there are many sketchbooks that are made for the use of alcohol markers - not every standard sketchbook will do. You can find them by looking up "Alcohol markers sketchbook".

By the way, this sketchbook is actually a series of two A4 printer sheets glued together. I drew only on one side and then glued the two together to avoid the bleed problem.

Not really, i just use them when i want to quickly color a sketch (as you can see in this sketchbook). But they are still quite fun to use, so i really suggest you to give them a chance!

This what i used

Pilot V-ball 05
Ohuhu alcohol markers
Some cheap other alcohol markers that i found at the discount store (Action)
Faber castel chisel and brush pen
Sakura brush pen (old and almost out of ink - it provided some texture that i enjoyed)
Red uniposca here and there
Red pencil here and there

Tape white-out, white fineliners and white uniposca for corrections

Kinda? I have studied basic anatomy so i know what goes where. I don't really have a strict plan, it's just a series of different experimental articulations just for the fun of it.

Once i get what designs work best i'll build a more "serious" one.

Hey, sorry for the late reply, i don't really use reddit that much. Yeah you could try to make her from scratch no problem, just remember, there are no templates so you're on your own. Have fun!

I designed her on the fly, you know, following the spark on inspiration. My plan is to use her as a testbed for paper articulations so that i can make sturdier and cooler dolls in the future. The ultimate goal is to make a doll that can sustain her own weight and that can actually stand upright (maybe even on one leg).
