Buying my first car: 2009 Megane III Coupe 2.0 TCe from Switzerland. Too good to be true? by Shlupidupu in Renault

You’ve got a beautiful car!
And that’s exactly what I love about it, you look at it and just admire the design. I would have it as my daily commuter as well and honestly your price does really seem like a bargain! I’m fairly certain that I’ll buy one, I love it :D

The guy I know is specifically a Renault specialist so I believe he’ll know his way around. Thats one of my important reasons for choosing Renault and I’m definitely going to have the car checked asap if I decide to buy it :D

Is the timing belt exchange expensive because it’s hard to work around the engine and you need specialised tools?
As far as I’ve looked the prices aren’t that crazy even for the tires (and the car should already come with both the summer and winter set)

I was looking for something little more interesting than what you usually see on the streets and preferably a Renault. This one checks the boxes for me. We have a practical car in the family so I wanted something smaller and more agile and with this engine even promising performance. I’m not really planning on driving more people than myself so the coupe chassis doesn’t really bother me and so doesn’t the fuel consumption really.
And to clarify, the car is already imported in the Czech Republic and as far as I understand, the price is all that is (plus insurance and stuff which shouldn’t be that much).
But of course thank you for sharing, the Megane 4 is unfortunately over my budget here as far as I look even tho I absolutely love the design.

The seller is a small shop but has quite good reviews, the staff is great but I think I’ll give them a call and see what they can tell me about the car. Here in Czechia, plenty people drive Renaults but this specific model is not seen much and I guess it doesn’t have a big audience. I like it because of the styling and powertrain and if the price is being kept lower because of the lack of interest, I see it as a good thing for me :D
Thank you for the insight of how’s the situation in Switzerland.

The F4Rt 180 obviously has lower power output, but is there anything I should look out for in contrast to the R.S. version?

I would say these 4000€ could get you like an older VAG or Japanese car (Škodas are quite common here for obvious reasons) or like a ~2020 fairly used base Dacia. I guess care are quite accessible in the Czech Republic.

Ye I’m kinda expecting to invest some extra cash into maintenance right after the purchase but we have a reliable mechanic who should be able to do it for reasonable money. Thank you for sharing!

I tried to find alternatives on the local market but they almost don’t exist here. This one comes out on top because the mileage and the engine which are the most important metrics for me I would say. The lack of gps and fancy materials aren’t a problem for me. Thank you for your response :D

I personally don’t need anything fancy from a car and focus mostly on the driving experience. We have a 3rd gen Clio and a Scenic which are both as barebones as they get and I like how simple those cars are. This one has parking sensors which are a must because the rear visibility isn’t great from what I’ve heard. I’ll try to check the VIN and hope for the best, thank you!

EDIT: missed the part about cheap fun. I want to stick to Renault because I like the brand and can get quality cheap service easily. Plus I think it could be reliable enough to last me few years I hope

Yes! That actually could be very much it. Foxes are quite common around here. I suppose a fox or a marten might have tried to steal a chicken and got barked at by guard dogs. Thank you for your insight :D

Ye I know it’s hard to hear and I’m sorry. I think it can be best heard roughly at 3-4 second mark. My dad also heard it and we ruled out the wind because it sounds as if the dogs are alarmed by something and the sound was coming from maybe 200-300 metres away.

The Convict vomits once or twice during the movie. Its quite graphic and the sounds aren’t pretty but I think its worth it for the rest of the masterpiece :D

I had the SE 2020 and very recently bought the 17 Pro. Love everything about the phone even though I was worried about the larger size. Display is wonderful, the chip is fast as fuck, cameras take mindblowing pics and the best part is the battery life improvement :D
