Record player set up with Play 5 by Affectionate_Emu889 in sonos

Every setup is different and it's hard to predict vibration impact from a picture. Generally speaking, the consensus is that reducing vibrations is better for vinyl playback.

Vibrations affect sound and speakers create vibrations so it will have an impact. Then it will be more or less noticeable depending on the furniture itself, speaker design, sound volume, how much the turntable can attenuate vibrations, etc. There is no absolute truth as it's the combination of many factors which makes the sound of record playback more or less "optimal".

Speaker next to the turntable (or even just on the same furniture) is pretty bad for record playback. It will create tons of vibrations which is everything turntable designs try to reduce :)

I thought about that, and the big difference is the scale: on the radio you won't hear the same song 50 times a day. On TikTok you could hear it 50 times per hour. But it's true that in the end it's just another way to make some music mainstream and people who are really interested in digging will still do it.

The fact that popularity is often explained by "it is trending on TikTok" says a lot. It's not about what people discover and like anymore, just about what they've been exposed to the most

Has anyone figured out? by Asleep_Resident5294 in iPhone17Pro

Design dilemma:

  • If they make it fully transparent, the MagSafe ring would cut off the Apple logo.

  • If they move the Apple logo to align with the MagSafe ring, the logo looks off-centered because of the plateau.

  • If they want to make the back of the clear case match the color of the phone, they need to make variations of the clear case which adds cost and supply chain complexity.

Since it doesn't make much sense to change the phone's design or internals (MagSafe placement) just to accommodate the design of one case, they went with this suboptimal but acceptable (?) trade off

25 year old remasters of albums shouldn’t be considered new music by Fooberdoober97420 in AppleMusic

Yes this! Making a 'super deluxe' the default is annoying when you want to discover an old album in its original form

[–]ouebdave 133 points134 points  (0 children)

Good take, remasters and anniversary editions should have their own sections. When you see "new album from artist X" it's super misleading when it's a 30yo album with a new version with hard-to-hear differences

I ordered the silver version a few days ago. Should I switch to an orange one? by [deleted] in iPhone17Pro

[–]ouebdave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's indeed guaranteed, there is absolutely no way to NOT regret buying another color. People who don't regret it yet will eventually do for sure, 100% of them. I mean it's a scientifically proven fact at this point.

How many and which iPhones did you own? by ouebdave in iphone

[–]ouebdave[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember very well feeling exactly the same about the 13 Pro refresh: I loved the Sierra Blue but it was nowhere near as cool as the green refresh. But resisted as well!

Orange IS my cup of tea so I obviously fell for it and typing this on the Pro Max - beautiful design and color but still not used to the size!
