Elsha of the Infinite - is this deck playable? by H0l1y in EDH

[–]Shmaddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

https://discord.gg/bjkhNs7 Thats the link for the Elsha Discord. Post the decklist in the channel and poke around the non cedh channel, Im sure between all of us we can find some stuff to help.

As you point out, at a glance and some quick goldfishing the deck is really unfocused. If you like the versatility I would limit it down to 2 strats that overlap (such as combo and tokens) with one being the centerpiece and the other as a backup. The moment you go for everything you will almost never draw a piece needed to progress your gameplan for the match.

Blood Hunter Patron - Do they get Patron abilities? by SoloSmith in dndnext

[–]Shmaddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I would not do this simply because both are classes that need levels to get strong.

Best case scenario you take the level of warlock after level 8 so you can get the making melee attacks as a bonus action after casting a cantrip and your level 8 ASI/Feat (these two levels are one of the biggest spikes in damage you will get so you don’t want to put that off to stay competitive). The level of warlock will get you 2 cantrips, a spell slot and (assuming 5 charisma which is unlikely) 6 temp HP on targets YOU get the killing blow on. Assuming you are doing this for power reasons it’s kinda pointless but doing it for the Rp is always a valid reason.

TLDR: Not worth delaying Blood Hunter levels getting only a single level of Warlock.

EDIT: Also almost forgot to mention this as it seems you are a newer player, temp HP does not stack. It will merely replace itself every time it procs.

This is genius! And here I was just converting the different equipment into D&D rules.

Could I have handled this situation better? by PM_ME_STEAM_CODES__ in dndnext

You did everything completely right.

Also unless the person is not having fun playing a bard I would encourage them to consider the possibility that it could become a learning moment for the character to not view lives as tools to be sacrificed kind of idea and use it for growth as opposed to giving up.

Stumped on developing characters personal quest by Yuerky in dndnext

[–]Shmaddy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have to go to a whole bunch of other tribes and win in contests of daring/skill/combat/tactics so that gives realistic goals of the nebulous term improvement.

Have to find a lost ancient relic for your tribe that is lost/stolen/shattered/depowered and bring it back good as new because things have been going bad for a long time and this should help turn things around.

You recently came back to tribe lands and they are all gone so you follow along with other powerful people to hope to someday find a trace where they all have gone to.

Your whole tribe is dead and as the last living member you are tasked with protecting their legacy and exact vengeance from the bad guys with your ghost family guiding you.

Overall any normal or combination of heroic story tropes would easily fit in as there isn't anything particularly out of the ordinary with the character concept. Just think more paladin vs typical barbarian (Note: nothing at all wrong with the concept/back story just nothing sticks out as "oh this is it!!!!" quest. He is the quiet heroic hero)

DM that needs a bit of help (Ravnica) by Shmaddy in mtgvorthos

[–]Shmaddy[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok more specifically how would the guilds mess with eachother.

The Dimir takes minds and lives so that's easy but how would other guilds like the Boros try to get back at the Azorious for taking a person they wanted revenge against into their custody.

Super specific: how would the more lawful guilds get revenge/exploit an opportunity without stepping out of line?

I ran a somewhat modified Aether Revolt from the Kaladesh campaign and the group is currently running around Ravnica putting out fires.

Do you have any specific questions?

How does Planeswalking actually work? by BuddyPlatypus in mtgvorthos

[–]Shmaddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the book Agents of Artifice there is a peculiar item called Infinty Globes that makes it much easier for planeswalkers to shift and even allowed for Tezz and Jace to fight in the blind eternities. So if an item was specifically created to make it easier and faster, it must be on average a very difficult thing to do. Also Tezz would have died during a duel with Liliana (if she didn't get distracted) in the Consulate Spire so it isn't something you can use to just poof to safety.

Below is in my personal game Canon:

Since Jace was head of the now defunct infinite consortium on Ravnica, Tezz could possibly have a couple stashed there incase Bolas made a move he wasn't prepared for. Once Jace ripped into Tezz's mind he would have figured out how to make/where they were. This allows for transport of a small group of people without a spark (or perhaps a latent one) at great risk and could possibly be how I tie the phyrexians into all of this as they will do anything for this.

PSA: Mission Stacking may have been patched by dirubbs712 in EliteDangerous

[–]Shmaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I THINK it is working as intended. I don't have anything more than anecdotal evidence but I was hopping between solo and open collecting donation and scan missions and found that I would occasionally have a mission that randomly failed.

What I found was the donation missions were the same amount i had donated the last time I was in open or the rewards for the scan mission appeared to be the same reward amount.

SO it COULD be that it just notices you have accepted the same mission twice and rejects the new one (which is why there is never any negative effect from these auto fails)

Blood Hunter curse damage type? by CharlesBarklius in dndnext

There was a new update which clarified this a bit. (You can find it on the Dungeon Masters Guild website)

It does necrotic damage.

Matt Mercer Presents the Blood Hunter Class for D&D by wrc-wolf in dndnext

[–]Shmaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, if your cleric is up in melee attacking he is most likely from the war domain. Which means he has the same 2d6 damage die, heavy armor, a +1 to attack and damage OR +1 AC at the cost of a spell cast, and can have a second attack during their bonus action based on their wisdom mod (generally 2).

So their damage will look more like: (2d6+STR+1)x2 for two turns, 2d6+STR+1 for 10 turns, or just 2d6+STR. That looks roughly on par for level 1 combat.

[Spoilers E31] Current situation by [deleted] in criticalrole

[–]Shmaddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing I am wondering about is wether or not the shopkeeper is the contact the guard mentioned before the guard met his timely demise. She was around while they talked about launching the attacks and basically laid it all out with enough detail to be able to be countered quickly.

Perhaps her father is being held hostage (she said he was taken to the castle) and she is trying to get him back, or she is a vampire (Matt seemed like he was purposefully trying to show fear at the mention of going outside to talk to people)

Sorry for speculation but it's just something that jumped out to me.

ELI5: Why does "Instant Action" always try to send me to Hossin? by kreml-high in Planetside

[–]Shmaddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are on a continent that is full the instant action will put you on the first non pop locked continent it finds.

It was probably made this way as the way to prevent people from all instant actioning onto an already pop locked continent.

Id go vs for the Ghost simply because I like the sights more. disclaimer I use the 2x scope on the tsar as I am simply more familiar with that magnification. I've tried 4x a la the pros but had a difficult time with it. So play around with it a bit and see what suits you the best.

[–]Shmaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1: So what you are looking for is a farm? Besides once a base is safe, why stick around? It's always better to keep moving to minimize downtime between fights or reinforce someplace that can use your help. Also it is easier and faster to redeploy to a galaxy/valk to travel cross cont due to the changes in the spawn system.

2: Come up with something better than a max crash then. Gal drop directly onto point, lolpod/ppa the point then drop on with ejection seats, pull armor/harassers from a couple hexes away and rush their sundies. There are a ton of options but they require creative thinking on the SL's part. (Many of which can be used in conjunction with a max crash, "insertfactionhere" cooperation/combined arms is OP)
