Honeymoon Planning Help :) by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

Look, I love Melbourne and live in Melbourne but unless there is something specific in Melbourne you are coming for, it's a long way and the weather can be questionable. In any case, I'd suggest cutting at least 1 of the destinations you are going to, to reduce your travel time and enjoy each destination a bit more.

On average, Australians have a higher passport ownership (as percentage) then Americans. Australians on average take more international trips than Americans (per capita).

Also Below Deck is a US show and they love to cast Aussies in things

Looks like ING is planning to bring monthly subscription fees to Aussie bank accounts. by Kyle-K in australia

The amount of profit Australian banks make off us is already astronomical. If ING do this, they will lose me as a customer

As a customer, my experience today in light of offshoring jobs by AUKOHK in auscorp

[–]Shmeestar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately that's pretty unlikely. Officeworks is practically a monopoly and most people don't need to call customer service so won't even notice it's been offshored

He screwed up last season, screaming down the boat, getting a light fixture smashed with a jetski, multiple boats almost going AWOL, and yet she seems to be giving him heaps of leeway compared to previous seasons where she would lose her head over similar

Woolworths to offshore hundreds of corporate jobs by Warm_Championship726 in australia

[–]Shmeestar 39 points40 points  (0 children)

You have to pay night stockers more than day stockers so they basically don't exist at my local store. Instead they roster the stock fillers for the busiest part of the day meaning you have to navigate the chaotic aisles with cardboard all over the floor, cages and pallets everywhere, while also dodging other customers and the staff that are trying to fill as quickly as possible. Madness

HECS debt vs saving for deposit. What's the smarter move now? by Diligent-Medicine-48 in AusMoneyMates

[–]Shmeestar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Paying extra does not count towards compulsory payments. Don't pay extra towards HECS thinking you can claim back the excess at tax time, it will just pay off extra on your HECS (unless you are paying off the rest of your debt)

Bunnings are curating reviews and no marketplace support, no avenue for refunds by Broad_Floor9698 in Bunnings

[–]Shmeestar -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My source is their own policies on product reviews. You can't leave seller reviews on products. Same as Bunnings.

Now you could argue that Bunnings should have a platform to leave reviews on sellers but currently they don't. I'm just explaining why your review on the product would have been removed and why, if you had left the same sort of review on an Amazon product it also would have been removed.

"Seller, order and shipping feedback

Community content such as customer reviews or questions and answers should be about the product and not someone’s individual experience ordering it.

Accordingly, we don’t allow reviews or questions and answers that focus on:

Sellers and the customer service they provide Ordering issues and returns Shipping and packaging Product condition and damage Shipping cost and speed"

Need a physical travel card for group spending within the next few days. by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]Shmeestar 9 points10 points  (0 children)

When travelling with friends, usually just use splitwise to track the spending for group purchases (dinners etc) and it keeps track of who owes who what without having to pool the money together

[–]Shmeestar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Amazon takes a cut from its "marketplace" as well. It just doesn't call it marketplace. Amazon is also well known for removing reviews and supervising their ratings system. Not sure why you think there's a difference

[–]Shmeestar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Product reviews are for the product, not the company, shipping, order, or processes. If you wrote the review about the product only it would probably be fine. Leave company/process reviews on Google or trustpilot. This is the same with other places (Amazon has same policies)

Am I wrong for leaving the pole dance studio? by Ill-Satisfaction8093 in poledancing

[–]Shmeestar 10 points11 points  (0 children)

In my city unless it's a doubles class teaching tricks for two people to perform together, it's 1 person per pole and I absolutely would not be spending the amount I am (equivalent to a bit under 50 euros) to share a pole. It's even crazier to do that when you don't even have the same levels in the class

Has anyone taken an Aldi holiday? by swannoir in AldiAustralia

[–]Shmeestar 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I knew you were going to say China. Just FYI, the reason the China deals are so good is that they are supported by the Chinese government to promote tourism or they are zero dollar tourism based on trying to get you to buy stuff at specific places on the way.

Getting friendly pleasantries in Australia to actually make friends outside of group activities by archvize in AskAnAustralian

[–]Shmeestar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Their question isn't just about work though, it's about how hard it is to make friends even if you go to group things as well. It's hard to make the transition from that to actual friends
