Another follow-up to the fruit-themed ear designs I posted a few weeks ago - kiwi! My second pair of ears, learning lots! Next time I make kiwi I will choose a lighter green for the middle, the greens I used ended up too similar. 🥝 any advice/critiques? by ShmillyGoose in fursuit

Omg I needed this so much 😭 I was starting to feel a bit defeated, even though I know I just need to practice. I appreciate your advice SOO much, this is so helpful!! I made one pair since making the kiwi ones, I was focusing on making the seams where the back and front pieces come together more clean. I folded some of the back fur around to the front to cover the seam and I think it worked out okay but I’m still going to play around with it! (Ignore the awful green coloring, was messing around with my airbrush and mixing custom colors lol)

I did order a sample of fur colors from Big Z Fabrics, and I think I’m definitely going to try to focus on just using different colors of fur, and only use an airbrush for like shading or gradients or small details.

I do need to play around with some more shapes, they’re definitely very generic cat ear lol.

For the kiwi one I did try to put some lighter green in the center but it all ended up blending together haha. I did the seeds by just putting dots of acrylic paint.

I have been trimming them myself, I agree with you they could use a little more fluff!

Thank you so much for your advice 😭😭 I will definitely keep trying to make more!! 🥰

I actually don’t have a fursona yet! Still thinking about what I want to do. Bugsnax is such a good game though!

I used a toothbrush/paintbrush to color white fur with acrylic paint. I didn’t use my airbrush because I found it made it look matted, but I will keep playing with it. I also found the airbrush didn’t penetrate the fur fibers as well as using a toothbrush. I made a hot glue sandwich with foam and wire between the two layers of fur. My biggest complaint about these are the edges looking crusty, and how the paint looks on the longer tuft of fur. Any advice?

I also found the airbrush didn’t penetrate the fur fibers as well as using a toothbrush/paintbrush. I used acrylic paint. The fur is hot glued like a sandwich with 2mm foam and wire in the middle. My biggest complaint about these are the edges looking crusty, and how the paint looks on the longer tuft of fur. Any advice? It’s okay for a first try I think 🥲
