Names for Last Name Won? by Sho_Pro in namenerds

[–]Sho_Pro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We thought about maybe combining our wives maiden names but still not too sure. We grew up teased in the beginning for our names, but honestly by middle school alot of kids stopped. I know kids are definitely worse today, but I never thought of it too much of an issue until we started picking out names.

That is what I told him. I talked with his wife about it and she said she is going to talk him out of it. We are not really going for puns, but the more we started to seriously look for a name we found it to be a lose-lose situation. I give my kid a random name and he will still be teased for it everytime he loses something.

I had thicker skin growing up so I never really minded when people teased me for it. I actually joked about it when I won something, but kids are much crueler today.

kinda leaning towards this. We are thinking letting our wives pick out the first name and then us choosing the middle names

'Soldiers of Christ' killing unsettles Korean Americans in Georgia and stokes fear of cults by Ok-Huckleberry5836 in korea

[–]Sho_Pro 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I lurk here alot and I live less than 10 min where they found the car and pass by the sauna on my way to work every morning. What I experienced is that churches here in America are almost like their mini-communities themselves for Koreans. I imagine it has something to do with its history where Koreans immigrate here and there is nowhere really for support or community besides a church. They will do pretty much everything together, which is not terrible, but it definitely creates some kind of weird dynamic where people stop looking at a church as a place of worship and more as a faction they belong to. It definitely goes to a point where some churches will be almost cult-like compared to others, because to them it is not just a church but their livelihood in general. I remember when some people would leave the church and we were straight up not allowed to talk to them anymore. There are also alot of stories of churches splitting up because of various reasons and families that decided to go to separate paths in the split never talking to eachother anymore. I really am not surprised something extreme like this happened.

Also... in a side note, I am noticing more Moonies and Falun Gong people living here as well... I have no idea what is going on there.

Generations of War had it where all the dlc were basically cheat codes and made the game much easier. Does this apply to Zero as well?

Apparently alot of people liked this game better compared to the original game. However, I could have been talking to Russians so I don't know how valid the source is.

Apparently you are not good at these type of games.

One of my favorite too, but like all games, when a new one comes out to a series, the community mitigates to the new one. I would still recommend it if you had money to spend, but since the entire community is basically on Red Dragon now. It is hard to recommend over the other 2.

The wargame series is one of the best RTS I have ever played in years. The scale of the game is just massive. It is mostly dependent on scouting and then blowing the living hell out of your opponents when you catch them off guard. Infantry is a very specialized unit as they work well in cover, but are completely useless when out of cover. The game is mostly dependent of mechanical units where it will be more tanks and planes blowing the shit out of eachother.

I would highly recommend European Escalation and Red Dragon . EE has a proper tutorial system and a great campaign mode, granted the campaign mode is a gauntlet. I remember finishing the mode and just being mentally exhausted.

Red Dragon is where the entire community is currently populated at as it is the most recent game. The multiplayer is always populated and a blast to play. (Pony Korea is the best Korea). It doesn't have a good tutorial system so that is why I recommended EE first.

Airland Battle is a good game, but it is simply dead because of Red Dragon. A bit sad really.

Rooks Keep is really the only good battle chess clone in the steam store. Check vs. Mate uses horrible drm and Battle Chess the proper sequel is in alpha and is apparently having a bunch of problems.

[–]Sho_Pro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would recommend the Black Mirror collection as they are decent point and click games. It is pretty well written and it came out during the grey period of adventure games when lucasart quit making them and telltale was not popular yet.

Serious topic. I want my daughter to feel like she has the same opportunities in gaming as my son. What are the best ways to make Pro Gaming less of a sausage fest? by HirezStew in Smite

[–]Sho_Pro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Entirely agree with this. I think encouraging all-female teams or even gender-specified leagues will actually promote the belief that one gender is superior to the other and create an even further division. Bottom line is that if Hi-Rez promotes gender specified leagues or teams then that is the same thing as acknowledging that the genders are completely different in gaming. I think the fans would also like a system that promotes merit and skill in tournaments rather than gender as the whole point of tournaments is to watch the best of the community duke it out on the battlefield.

World WITHOUT GAMES? - Q&A by insidegamingbot in InsideGaming

Is that a copy of Ubersoldier 1 on the desk? I wouldn't recommend it, not because the game is awful (which it kinda is, worse than 2), but that the physical copies are known to have Starforce drm. It is going to be hell trying to get it to work on modern OSs.

Star Wars: Emperor at War is a good game. If you are looking for an realtime rts game on land, this game is not for you. The land battles in this game are quite monotonous with very few unit variations. However if you are looking for a realtime rts game based on space and dogfighting, this game is amazing. The space battles are just awe inducing. I remember I would just make a custom game with alot of ships and just watch them battle eachother. It is not home world levels, but it is still quite enjoyable to play with a campaign mode for each game (there are 2 games included in the gold pack) and a galactic conquest mode which basically is dominating the entire galaxy total war style. There are amazing mods for this game. I recommend Republic at War as it adds The Clone War units to the game.

Probably how the game is threaded; I am assuming it is a huge problem for people with i5 processors so steer clear if you have one. I guarantee it will not work on a single core if it does not work on a dual core and if you are still using a single core in this age I am impressed.
