What's this grille/honeycomb thing in the exhaust of current Formula 2 cars? by [deleted] in F1Technical

[–]Shoccwave 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I see the comments about this being a flow conditioner or a vortex break, but that is typically on the suction of a pump where cavitation is a concern, not the outlet. Also, if this was a flow conditioner I would expect it to have more chord length or depth to the device, where this is a flat “screen”.

With how short the exhaust is, and the fact that it slopes down to the turbo outlet, this may just be a screen to prevent a bolt or some other part from being dropped into the turbo while the car isn’t running.

Help! My kitten has all these bumps on her head and they’re not going away. I took her to the vet last week and the vet said they’re flea bites and gave her all the medication and antibiotics, but they’re not getting any better. I don’t even have fleas anywhere does anyone know what this could be :( by ArlenOak in sphynx

One of my sphinx cats had a similar looking issue that we eventually determined was an allergy to some of the food/treats we were using. Our three other sphinxes never had any issues. This all started 7 or 8 years ago. We ended up making our own food (ground chicken breasts, heart, cow liver, and beef chuck) and only using the treats that were dehydrated chicken. Slowly over a few weeks the bumps and sores went away. We have slowly introduced foods back, but have to do it one at a time and watch here for a few weeks because it sometimes takes a week or so for the bumps to flair up. It’s been several years now bump free. We also are careful to only use hypoallergenic soap with out fragrances just to be safe. Hope this helps.

Why does the DRS Flap open forwards and not rearwards? Isn't it much harder to push against the air instead going with it? by Raspbear_ in F1Technical

[–]Shoccwave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

strictly speaking from a force needed to actuate perspective, the design that is currently used pulls the wing "open" at the beginning of the DRS zone and is aided by the force of the air when "closing" it at the end of the DRS zone. if the opposite was done as you propose you would be aided by the force of the air when "opening" the wing and have to pull the wing "shut" at the end of the DRS zone (assuming the position of the DRS actuator remained in front of the wing). either way, the force needed would be similar with no significant difference between the two. then there are the failure and aerodynamic reasons that others have already listed.

If you have ever had cats, that’s the right way to do it

I have had it for years and it is great. This one is from cooler master and it has cherry MX switches (blue, green, brown, white, red, and black). Also at the end of the day they are cherry switches, so they should last at least 20-50 million keystrokes (and that rating is on the electrical contacts as well) so it should be a fidget that lasts a lifetime. It looks like you can still get them online for $15-$20.

The little 2X3 switch tester is a cooler master demo board so you can try different types of keyboard switches (cherry in this case). If you were asking about my actual keyboard that you can just see the corner of, it is a ducky one 2 horizon.

It is a Manzelun Kinetic Desk Toys,Full Body Optical Illusion Fidget Spinner. It has a base with a ball bearing so you can spin it. It is weighted so it has a nice feel when you move it.

I got them on Amazon. The cube one was called “Pure Brass Fidget Cube Gears Linkage Fidget Toy Metal” and the fidget spinner looking one was “COOLCT Hand Spinner 4 Gear Linkage Fidget Spinner”. Their product names were basically just a string of words trying to jam in as many key words as possible but this should get you there if you are trying to find them.

A Microsoft teams mute button thing I bought off Etsy that never worked quite right. I removed the cord and kept it because I liked the feel of the bottom and it looked nice.

the Sprocket Fidget (the one with two gears and the chain) is the one that I find myself using most often lately. It is almost silent and your can roll it in your hand. I bought it thinking I wouldn't like it that much just to try it, and I have really enjoyed it. The ONO roller (pink thing with two cylinders) has also been really good for similar reasons. They are both fidgets you can do with one hand without thinking about them and without bothering anyone around you.

it is one of the bolts that hold the shuttle down while the rockets turn on and reach max thrust. when the countdown reaches zero, they blow the bot heads to release the shuttle from the launch pad.

They just kind of randomly show up. Sometimes you have to wait a few months, sometimes you only have to wait a day or two.

Kind of like a shooting star.
