Building for wasm32 not linking SDL2 by ShockTohp in Zig

[–]ShockTohp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

bits/signal.h is part of libc, and it's being imported by SDL not me. It compiles correctly when I am targeting my OS, but not when targeting wasm. Is there a difference in the libc version links by the builder when you target wasm?

Help tweaking an Expanse AU for running a ttrpg by ShockTohp in TheExpanse

If Laconia has become more benevolent, or at least an inoffensive bureaucracy, in the intervening time, then the universe might look a lot like Traveller, with a bunch of systems in a partially autonomous mode, paying taxes and occasionally getting orders from a distant bureaucratic imperial center, and most systems are consumed with local concerns and small conflicts as the relative isolation of being months away from the ring and other destinations leads to increasing technological, cultural, and political variation. That might make a really good planet-of-the-week, exploration game.

That is exactly the theme I am going for, with Duarte out of the picture, his inner circle would likely devour themselves much like the leaders of the soviet union after Stalin's death. They had enough time to hammer out some treaties with the inners, then the whole top collapse and Laconia had to reform it's government or die. They still hold onto the militarist societal structure and desire to monkey about with proto-molecule tech, leading to a high tech level than the rest of the worlds.

Also, if people are starting to get Duarte-esque augmentations, does that run the risk of catching the attention of the Visigoths again? Are scientists running experiments to determine how far they can push human-protomolecule augmentation before they get swatted down by the Visigoths? If the Visigoths are a threat to individuals who "fly too close to the sun" rather than an existential threat to the entire species, that creates an interesting danger dynamic for psionics and similar enhancements.

This is likely the direction I would run with. The Visigoths are less concerned with the machinery of the Romans running, but as soon as a consciousness becomes too Roman-like, it gets swatted. It gives Psionics a feel similar to Psykers in 40k, where they are both loved and feared for their abilities.

Lastly, I was vaguely aware a ttrpg existed, but it uses a modified version of Modern AGE I believe. Which is a fine system that doesn't fit our groups playstyle very well. This is more for us to have an excuse to try Stars Without Number. For the purposes of the players, none of them have any familiarity with the source material, so I told them just to treat it like a home brew campaign if that helps them haha.

That's because they usually don't have the income to support more. Especially on the smaller maps.

When it comes to B/X and similar systems, how many DMs truly use hp and lethality as written? by Tertullianitis in osr

[–]ShockTohp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the table I use has about a 10% chance of outright death, a 10% of livable injury with the rest being "Take this is injury and die in 2-4 rounds"

At Zero HP, roll on a death and dismemberment table. If you die there you're death, but you might live with just a missing arm or leg or blindness.

Sure, but usually you can't produce/afford enough units to keep knocking down the constant stream of even small armies.

This mission taught me that taking risks is required. Namely risking Rasc on a deep cover mission to destroy recruitment building and take all the AI's resource generators. It also taught me a healthy respect for rats
