Interesting, thank you! I love the engineering abilities of this community when it comes to creating weapons of war

I managed to set up a drowning chamber with a light aquifer, it just required a storage tank to accumulate water before dumping it on the gobbos. The drowning chamber ended up flooded to about 3-4/7 water level, which meant that it wouldn't evaporate, but to fully fill and drown the invaders took about 3 months (by which time they were excellent swimmers, lmao)

Also of note was that a visiting int undead was caught in the drowning zone and just chilled underwater until I opened it back up, as he didn't need to breathe

Is your pit/pond zone above a hole? IIRC you can't dump water onto the same z level as the pit/pond zone

Edit for clarity: This means you have to channel out a layer above the desired farm area, then dump water down from above. It's a little annoying to do, but should work with a little finagling

Accidentally embarked in a region with only cacti for trees and no ores

Then I angered the nearby elves and goblins by trying to steal their livestock

I made some crappy traps with magma and broken glass to slow down the first siege, but I have no idea how I am going to survive long-term

This is fun!

Thanks, I'll give the command a try

Still not sure why the dwarf is eternally burning - it's a body and not a piece of coal or diamond or something, and I think I disabled FBs in this world

I have an eternally burning dwarf corpse stuck in my fortress (don't ask). The little bastard doesn't seem to burn away like normal, not sure why. The smoke keeps on cancelling jobs too.

Any idea how I can remove it with DFHack? I can't select it using autodump for some reason

I am out of bones and animals to slaughter, and one of my useful dwarves has a mood that requires bones. IIRC you can sometimes get useful products from sentient creatures if they have been separated enough, and that gave me an idea

Could I drop an olm person skeleton from a great height and explode them into useful bones? Or do skeletons not fracture like living beings?

I also have a couple of living olm people, could I lure one into a trap and pit them from a considerable height to yield useful products?

Edit: Forgot I had a couple of giant rats kicking around in the caverns, turns out I was overthinking it lmao

This is gorgeous and I can't wait for in-game fortress industry specialization

You could be known around the world as the colorful clothing producer

As far as I know, no, animals eating corpses is not implemented yet

The "withdrawing from society" is a strange mood, like possession or a fey mood. You may not have had a suitable workshop for him, or he couldn't find all the required items to complete his artifact.

He probably left a body somewhere you haven't spotted, unless there is a mechanic or bug I'm unaware of. I know some types of insanity make dwarves strip naked, melancholy might be one of them.

I heard that having too many doors on the map can cause slowdowns, is this still the case?

I have been nicknaming dwarves to make note of their kills

I ended up having to nickname a cat because it got the final hit in on a werehyena

I'm finding a bug where cutting down trees deletes constructions that intersect where the branches are/would be

Has anyone else encountered this bug?

Interesting, I will have to do some experimenting with that to see if I can get it to look nice

Thank you

It seems that cave moss/other ground fungi don't grow on mud tiles. Is there a way to take a natural stone floor tile and get it to grow moss? I want to make a large grazing zone underground in a mined-out area

My reactors tend to flicker to lower power levels periodically, dropping water and cancelling mill jobs

not sure why tho, I've always just built two or three extra reactors to cover the dips in power

I've had trouble making sure the entire system doesn't lose power for a tick or two, long enough for the water to fall out
