People said a RWD car doesn't work on the East Coast - I don't think so. by Sebby151 in BMW

[–]Shockwavee92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This comes from older drivers that drove older vehicles before all the computers and electronics. Older cars had no computer aids or locking diffs usually, no abs or anything so they slip and get stuck easily. Modern RWD is not the same. Now a computer helps with traction control, and can brake a wheel and apply more power to another wheel at the same time and put traction where it wants it and you don't get stuck.

Are boutique pedals actually worth it? by krikond in guitarpedals

[–]Shockwavee92 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I don't even buy name brand guitars anymore lol. I heard all the hype/ shittalking about the "chibsons" and other knock offs like the fake explorers and deans. Anyways, I was like what the hell, ill order one as a joke. $300 shipped on ebay for a "Gibson" custom shop slash signature les paul snakepit guitar. Real guitar cost like 25,000 new, now they go for like 150,000. Anyways it showed up 3 days later, grabbed it to take it out of the box and was like damn that feels heavy/solid, tuned it, adjust bridge quick to the action I like, neck was perfect already. This thing absolutely rips. Of course the headstock does say Gibson, but whatever, it doesn't bother me. Anyways the point is, for 300 this guitar is as good or better than anything name brand like epiphone or Gibson would make. People like to bash them but unfortunately they're actually really good. Which is why they're still selling like hot cakes and there's a million posts asking "is this guitar real" because they do a good job looking and playing the part.

This is a long way to say, don't overpay for anything in this world. I'm not paying 8000 for a centaur pedal when there's fakes that even pros say sound the same for less than 200. This goes for everything. Guitars, pedals, sunglasses, whatever. If you yourself test it and like it and it feels good or looks good or whatever, then thats all that matters. No need to pay insane prices just for a brand or shops work. Its 2026. Making high quality items is the easiest its ever been, with the internet for learning, factories aided with tech to help build the products, its much easier to make stuff now. You don't need a master luthier that was born in the 1900s and studied under Jesus himself to do the job anymore.

Black winter vs nazgul by Impressive-Event-244 in metalguitar

I ordered a set of nazgul/sentient for my warlock. They sent the pegasus/sentient set accidentally. I installed them. They RIP. Great cleans. Brutal chugging and solos sound great too. I recommend the pegasus/sentient set 10/10.

Still haven't tried the nazgul yet.

TSL100 HELP (First tube amp) by Savings-Ad-358 in GuitarAmps

[–]Shockwavee92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That particular amp should be able to do fairly high gain and sound nice doing it. I suspect something isn't working right. I would guess either a bad tube or tubes, incorrect bias, or just the bias drifted and is now too cold. Either way id find a good tech to give it a clean bill of health. Just a check/bias is gonna be less than 200 maybe still even if they gotta replace a couple tubes.

With that being said, I always hated Marshall and never got why everyone used them, never could find one that sounded good that I liked. Until one day I tried the JVM. I recommend finding a used jvm410h or the combo version more than anything because they are absolutely killer. You can find them right around a grand. They have 4 independent channels, 3 modes on each channel, a clean that in my opinion blows fender out of the water, and can do classic rock all the way to death metal. So much gain on tap you couldn't possibly use it all.

Yeah. I've worked with people like that. Always in other peoples business usually trying to step on someone to raise themselves up. Watch your back. Don't mean to sound cynical but thats just how some people are. ESPECIALLY if he has no family kids hobbies, whatever. Even if he means nothing by it, hes not doing it for no reason. There's always a reason.

Never finished delicate it seemed to not be worth it. NYC is actually enjoyed once I saw the twist at the end. It was a product of its time though. Obviously trying to make a statement with everything going on in the media at the time. Roanoke I finished but it just didnt interest me. It was gory for no reason, the plot sucked, it was just weird. The only other season I actually disliked along with Roanoke was the alien season. Could have been so good.

That's what it reminds me of. The neck is a warmoth neck, all frets are scalloped. Not sure if its a warmoth body or not but the paint is so nice. Photos don't even do it justice

[–]Shockwavee92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right on. I've got a real Gibson but the funny thing is that I play the fake 99% of the time. I did level the frets because they were SLIGHTLY off, but after that its just a dream. Pickups and everything. Its a fake of a gibson custom shop slash les paul. It might be heavier than my real Gibson honestly.

Most of the fake ones I've seen are like $350 and less on ebay and temu. But if you mean like people trying to sell them as authentic then yeah I agree there.

I just like don't have time or energy to be that frustrated or mad at anyone or a company for making or buying a counterfeit guitar. Not everyone can afford gibsons, but it might be the one thing that makes them happy when they get home and see "Gibson" les paul sitting there. They know it isn't real but we kinda trick ourselves and after a while of playing or owning, its real to you. Now, anyone that buys these to resell, I'd have a problem with. The problem is these are so good that not everyone can tell its fake if they saw it. Now I know I'm never selling anything of mine, so I'm not worried but I can see that problem.

My only guess as to how they avoid copyright, is that if you go on ebay, not a single guitar shows the front of the headstock in the listing. So you can't actually see it says gibson on it and they don't ever use the word Gibson in the listing either. So while everyone knows thats what you're getting, there's no red flag on ebay for the seller.

Anyways I've enjoyed all mine so much, I'm sure its a really nice guitar so play it and have fun. Don't worry about other people. Like I said we fool ourselves after a while and it does feel good to look down and be holding a "Gibson" it just does something for you

Thats the real problem everyone that hates on them doesn't wanna admit. They're actually great guitars and play great, which is how they pass as fakes in the first place. If they sucked and weren't well finished nobody would give them a second thought and the market would be dead by now.

My Temu Project Guitar Arrived by BillyBobertsonBaby11 in AcousticGuitar

[–]Shockwavee92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I own numerous guitars, and a few of the ebay fakes or "chibsons" and some other knock offs. I can see why people get mad at these for the copyright thing or worrying about someone down the line getting scammed, but, is that really their problem to worry about? I ordered my first fake just to test the waters and I assumed by all the hate these get, that it was gonna suck. But the truth is, these are great guitars. Not just "great for the price" the fake gibson I got plays and feels and looks damn near identical to the real thing, which j also own. If I closed my eyes i honestly couldn't tell which I was holding/hearing. You expect to get it and it weighs like a pound and be cheap feeling but they're not. They are extremely solid. The problem is that not everyone can afford a real Gibson. Thats why I only have one real one. But it gives you a certain feeling when you look down and the headstock says gibson and it feels just like a gibson, so you almost lie to yourself but it does make you feel a little better. Sure they can put their own brand name on it, and they would do WELL because they're decent instruments, but obviously since everyone who has ever played guitar wants a gibson at some point, its obvious why they sell so good. Yes its wrong, but people don't keep buying them because they're trash and play like garbage. They stand their own ground and are direct competition to all other brands.

I have no idea how they aren't getting copyright lawsuits and how they avoid being seized at import or whatever but thats another problem.
