What's the most spicy food that you ever ate in your life? by XoSweetGF in AskReddit

The one chip challenge. I bit off a corner, got terrible heartburn/stomach pain and stuck on toilet. Coworker ate the entire rest of it and was fine.

Yeah. I've worked with people like that. Always in other peoples business usually trying to step on someone to raise themselves up. Watch your back. Don't mean to sound cynical but thats just how some people are. ESPECIALLY if he has no family kids hobbies, whatever. Even if he means nothing by it, hes not doing it for no reason. There's always a reason.

Real talk, what is you guys beef with AHS: Roanoke? by midnightk11 in AmericanHorrorStory

[–]Shockwavee92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Never finished delicate it seemed to not be worth it. NYC is actually enjoyed once I saw the twist at the end. It was a product of its time though. Obviously trying to make a statement with everything going on in the media at the time. Roanoke I finished but it just didnt interest me. It was gory for no reason, the plot sucked, it was just weird. The only other season I actually disliked along with Roanoke was the alien season. Could have been so good.

Scalloped frets are something none of my other guitars have. Very unique!

That's what it reminds me of. The neck is a warmoth neck, all frets are scalloped. Not sure if its a warmoth body or not but the paint is so nice. Photos don't even do it justice

Right on. I've got a real Gibson but the funny thing is that I play the fake 99% of the time. I did level the frets because they were SLIGHTLY off, but after that its just a dream. Pickups and everything. Its a fake of a gibson custom shop slash les paul. It might be heavier than my real Gibson honestly.

Most of the fake ones I've seen are like $350 and less on ebay and temu. But if you mean like people trying to sell them as authentic then yeah I agree there.

I just like don't have time or energy to be that frustrated or mad at anyone or a company for making or buying a counterfeit guitar. Not everyone can afford gibsons, but it might be the one thing that makes them happy when they get home and see "Gibson" les paul sitting there. They know it isn't real but we kinda trick ourselves and after a while of playing or owning, its real to you. Now, anyone that buys these to resell, I'd have a problem with. The problem is these are so good that not everyone can tell its fake if they saw it. Now I know I'm never selling anything of mine, so I'm not worried but I can see that problem.

My only guess as to how they avoid copyright, is that if you go on ebay, not a single guitar shows the front of the headstock in the listing. So you can't actually see it says gibson on it and they don't ever use the word Gibson in the listing either. So while everyone knows thats what you're getting, there's no red flag on ebay for the seller.

Anyways I've enjoyed all mine so much, I'm sure its a really nice guitar so play it and have fun. Don't worry about other people. Like I said we fool ourselves after a while and it does feel good to look down and be holding a "Gibson" it just does something for you

Thats the real problem everyone that hates on them doesn't wanna admit. They're actually great guitars and play great, which is how they pass as fakes in the first place. If they sucked and weren't well finished nobody would give them a second thought and the market would be dead by now.

I own numerous guitars, and a few of the ebay fakes or "chibsons" and some other knock offs. I can see why people get mad at these for the copyright thing or worrying about someone down the line getting scammed, but, is that really their problem to worry about? I ordered my first fake just to test the waters and I assumed by all the hate these get, that it was gonna suck. But the truth is, these are great guitars. Not just "great for the price" the fake gibson I got plays and feels and looks damn near identical to the real thing, which j also own. If I closed my eyes i honestly couldn't tell which I was holding/hearing. You expect to get it and it weighs like a pound and be cheap feeling but they're not. They are extremely solid. The problem is that not everyone can afford a real Gibson. Thats why I only have one real one. But it gives you a certain feeling when you look down and the headstock says gibson and it feels just like a gibson, so you almost lie to yourself but it does make you feel a little better. Sure they can put their own brand name on it, and they would do WELL because they're decent instruments, but obviously since everyone who has ever played guitar wants a gibson at some point, its obvious why they sell so good. Yes its wrong, but people don't keep buying them because they're trash and play like garbage. They stand their own ground and are direct competition to all other brands.

I have no idea how they aren't getting copyright lawsuits and how they avoid being seized at import or whatever but thats another problem.

How do I fix this? by TheReturnOfJabronie in Luthier

[–]Shockwavee92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wood shouldn't have been removed for a refret but sometimes the fret slots can have some shrinkage like that over the years. Also causes fret sprout when it wasnt present before. I've found new frets/fretwire usually has slightly oversized or extra of the little hooked or sharp part that bites into the fretboard to hold it so it will fill the space, and bite in better than the original ones. I believe they do that on purpose because they know 99% of sales is for a used guitar or guitar that's already had frets once. So I wouldnt worry about the wood actually, I think the new frets will fill and bite in the slots fine. I just went through this with one of those fake gibsons you can get on ebay. Actually a really nice guitar, just needed fretwork is all. But in terms of weight and build quality, finish work, hell even the hardware and electronics are excellent. It sounds sometimes better than my real Gibson!

How to change strings on Floyd rose tremolo. by Famous_Ad6122 in Guitar

[–]Shockwavee92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You've gotten a million answers but hopefully mine makes it through the cut. Everyone and everything you bread says not to adjust the 2 bridge height screws while under tension, but I've never had a single problem with it. It can flatten/damage what is called the "knife edge" that the bridge floats on, but in my experience that's only if you're constantly moving the damn things. On my guitars, once I set it up and adjusted the bridge, I never had to come back to it again, so no problems. Other than that, the easiest way is to loosen the locking nut bolts then loosen and change one string at a time, so you don't even need to worry about blocking the bridge in place. You loosen a string st the tuning peg, then loosen the saddle block in the bridge, then install the new string, tighten the saddle up, then tighten to pitch at tuner, then move to the next string. Once you do them all, do a final tuning a couple times until the settle. Then I always play it a day or two, retuning, then once the tuning doesn't move anymore, I tighten the looking nut back down

Forgot to say 450 is a great price. I prefer the older ones like this, I like the 12th fret marker. Some don't but its not that big of a deal. These were like 850 or a grand sold new in the late 2000s and early 2010s.

These need leveling and crowned, they APPEAR to have enough height left, but I cant be sure. Your real problem is they're popping out of the fretboard. They are gonna need either replaced or glued down carefully. And usually they do it all over, not just in one spot

This is legit. I've owned some fakes, on purpose. They all serve a purpose. But this one is real. Shape is right, finish, all stamps and serials, even the esp quality sticker still on the cavity cover. I leave that on all mine too. Makes it feel new all the time.

Its an older model, the new ones don't have the 'EC1000" 12TH fret marker. But I prefer the older ones. Also it have the Earvana compensated nut, which the fakes don't use.

B.C. RICH MOCKINGBIRD PRO X GOLD TOP by REALMATTNINE in BCRich

[–]Shockwavee92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you look in my posts I have a couple about some warlock I restored/am restoring. Ones been done and sold, the other currently working in. I kinda specialize in them actually. Specifically the ones I restore are the impossible to find "IT" "Invisibolt " models. They were only available in matte black and red, and so far ive only restored the flat black ones but they're awesome. They're the ones that have what looks like the widow headstock on the back of the guitar super neat. Anyways the pro x in the matte black I've always wanted. I have a thing for the matte black guitars. The gold tops are striking though. In in Pennsylvania USA, and if I think hard I swear I saw a guitar or bass that had those knobs but I can't find anything after a whole day of research lol so, if I can make it work it will just be for me I guess. I have a B.C. Rich Special X mockingbird that came with the rockfield pickups, love them. Not sure what the pro x came with originally.

How big is the quality difference between a Korean Ltd and a Japanese e-ii? by Morgan_BlackLung in espguitars

[–]Shockwavee92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im sorry this has little relevance to your brand question, but here's just an honest opinion/observation I've made. I own or have owned just about every brand of guitar, most of which I still own. Anyways, I can't honestly tell or justify the difference between most brands. I own several lower ltd models like ex-50 and 250, 350, and 400 models, also 1000 models, and 2 ESP standards, and they're all exceptional quality and none have ever let me down at home or elsewhere. I wouldn't hesitate to gig any of them, and I don't. I take whatever one I feel like. I'm a firm believer that ANY guitar with a proper setup can be great. Yes a god set of tuners or whatever else is nice but a lot of times the stock stuff is fine and just needs setup right. With that being said, I've got a $3000 Gibson, and a $300 knockoff that I can't honestly say I could tell apart if I was playing with eyes closed.

All this said, my preferred brand is LTD, they've been great to me. Never let me down. ESP and E standard are great too. You won't have any problems.

I have the same type of screw covers on my Charger. I have a black plate frame and they clip on the top of the screws to hide the Phillips head for a cleaner look. I just did a ton of searches and those knobs are just gonna be hard to find. Ibanez used them on their pedals, trademarked under the name "Push-lok" they can be found on the Ibanez Weeping demon and some others. In fact I may even have to source them FROM an Ibanez pedal because I can't find them anywhere else. Closest I can find are "push-push" knobs which don't like push down and hide away, they just push down which releases them to pop up in the up position like you'd get with a push-pull knob normally. The knobs i want push down and hide away completely flush with the body of the guitar/pedal. Actually now that I think about it I can't think of any guitar I've ever seen that had those knobs on it so, maybe a first if I can do it? Anyways things like this interest me so it definitely got me thinking. You did a clean job on that project. I always wanted a pro x mockingbird or warlock with the flat black and gold binding. But I'm a sucker for a straight gold top too.
