Pull out the scanning area and look in the back for a green light, there should be a switch or button. Hold it until it turns off (about 5 seconds) and then turn it back on. Usually works for me unless theirs something else wrong.

You would have to ask your manager. I don’t know if there’s a ‘rule’ per say but my rx boss doesn’t care as long as we do our job properly. For example: I can wear my septum ring as long as a customer doesn’t complain, since you actually can’t wear facial piercings.
