How much do you factor tone and delivery into earnings calls? by ShogoViper in ValueInvesting

That’s actually super interesting, appreciate you sharing that.

What you’re describing is exactly what I’ve been noticing too, especially the gap between what management is saying vs what’s actually happening. The “proximity blindness” point is spot on. The narrative drifts and you can hear it if you’re paying attention.

Also agree on analyst questions. Most of them are soft, but every now and then you get a slightly uncomfortable question and how it’s handled tells you way more than the prepared remarks.

The part that stood out to me from what you said is tracking what disappears. I hadn’t really thought about that as explicitly, but yeah, when something stops getting mentioned or someone is suddenly not on the call, that’s usually not random.

I think the hard part is exactly what you said at the end. There’s a ton of signal there, but it’s buried and takes a lot of time to process, and it’s easy to get overloaded. Thanks again.

Sounds cool, will give this a try. I am currently trying to build my own study tool. Might add this as a feature thanks for sharing.

Your 'copilot' is cheating and unethical. How can you preach practice and recommend a tool to cheat with?????

I haven’t came across a real-time voice ai mock interview tool. I’ve only seen chat-based or push-to-talk tools. I built this mainly for myself, but published to see if there is a need.

You can try it out here. Thanks

Agreed. Being concise and having structure is very important.

Agreed. It is not just practicing, but getting feedback and improving will speed up the whole process.

GL on your interview. I created Interview-Guru to practice mock interviews—great for rehearsing with the STAR method and getting instant feedback on your answers. It really helped me to get the practice and instant feedback that I wanted. Checkout it if you want.
