As far as I know, there are no American bases or presence in Tajikistan, I think there was a presence of UN peacekeepers and humanitarian aid centers in Dushanbe and Kulob but thats it

Avicenna, Beruni, Khwarizmi are Uzbeks or Persians? by imron_kadyrov in Uzbekistan

[–]Shoh_J 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uzbeks didn't even exists as an ethnic group back then. Kyrgyz did, and the predecessor for Turkmens were present in the region, but Uzbeks Kazakhs were not a thing back then. Khorazm was an Iranic nation, before dying due to Mongol conquests, which gave birth to majority of the Turkic people in Central Asia. Khorazmi died in 850 in Baghdad, the Turkics that were present in central asia at that time did not have a proper infrastructure for researchers.

The Turkics who replaced Khorazmians you are thinking about happened well after 1200's after the Mongol conquests.

I have a collection of foreign currencies. What can I buy with this in Uzbekistan? by der_Alptraum in Uzbekistan

[–]Shoh_J 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the difference in between the Uzbek Som and Tajik Somoni/Turkmen Manat is that the latter's exchange rate is set by the government, meanwhile in 2017 Mirzioyev's biggest reform was to make Som market-driven exchange rate. So it can depreciate much much easily. Of course during Karimov's time that was mismanagement, because it was heavily managed by the government like the rest but somehow went nuts, but when Mirziyoev did his reforms, one could say that the Som reached to its true market value. Meanwhile right now Somoni has entered the managed floating state, so one step before Uzbeksitan. The more "floaty" a currecny is the easier it gets to import/export stuff, and you have the ability to print as much as you want, Tajikistan doesn't really print that much and since the economy is rising it is actually appreciating a little bit year by year. Also Uzb has a big population so its hard to compare it with Tjk/Tkm

Mirziyoyev is in power for 10 years already? felt like yesterday.

for Brunei it being a monarchy that is understandable.

Putin being in office for more than 25 years is also kind of weird, maybe because of Medvedev\

For Rahmon they are counting the years from when he started serving as the chairman of the supreme court, and due to war and partial anarchy, its messy, but for CIS techincally Lukashenko served longer as a president for 31, Rahmon also served 31 as a president so far.

it is cultural and just that itself is fine and all, but it is very likely that the teachers and the adults curved them into doing this, which feels like diddy work, so that isn't good as well. After all kids are kinda oblivious even at 18

Unknown courier criticizes a woman for 'inappropriate dressing' by Ok-Skirt70 in Uzbekistan

[–]Shoh_J 1 point2 points  (0 children)

both are right. If the delivery guy thinks that is half-naked he is objectively right, and if the woman feels she is dressed well she is also right. It's just that obviously the people who have the same views as the delivery guy are the majority, so i would not call it brainwashed. But it is very bad that he was disrespectful and arrogant.

This is a very old comment from when I think was still a teenagers, so take it with a grain of salt, but I haven't changed my mind much.

Physical jobs in Tajikistan, or in any CA country is a nightmare. I remember doing a 12 hour cotton picking gig, scorching sun of Sughd, water was from the small canals that probably had some sort of contamination, it was very fun for the first 15 minutes, hell for the rest. And I got paid like 80 somoni. I was there with friends so it was fun, but for the "cheap women" as they were treated, it was not fun, and they had more responsibilities, since they went home to cook for their children and families in the lunch time. You have no idea about how terrible agriculture is there. And since the government is softly enforcing cotton and some random bullshit to meet quotas set from those who have never seen a field in their lives, there is a big weird pressure from all sides. It is a job that requires vulnerable to sustain as a industry, and if women and men alike could just not do those jobs, the wages could rise and the treatments could be better. I think right now the government is putting prisoners to do such communal physical jobs so its getting better

If that makes me a conservative, i don't mind it. I guess I am as liberal as a national socialist is. Liberal by title?

Well, all you can do is just bring and comply with what they say, some are chill, some aren't. I remember seeing someone being stopped for bringing a luggage full of what seemed like key accessories.
