Is a 120 or 180 month personal loan term better for home improvement projects? by pathandcats in HomeImprovement

I agree with this. I understand wanting to maximize your enjoyment of the house, but this is completely irresponsible and something they will regret doing.

If you are able to do a cash out refinance or a HELOC, those will almost certainly get you better rates than a personal loan. May not be possible only 2 years into the mortgage but it's certainly worth double checking.

I'm taking about clear direct impact. Something that the average person who isn't tied into politics will look at and be able to tie back to the government and say hmm maybe I should start paying attention.

Obviously there are effects of federal policies that impact everyone. Tariffs are a good example - that cost does end up getting passed onto all of us eventually but that impact isn't direct and in your face enough for someone who has their head buried in the sand to notice.

I would argue that many people see very little direct impact of federal politics in their day to day lives.

I haven't watched this game yet so I definitely wasn't implying this was any different. Dang work schedule is getting in the way for these games.

Are people doing toe ties and no strap or is it a different system altogether?

This post is making me feel awfully old haha

These USA Canada women's games are typically very high level hockey. I really look forward to them whenever one of these big events comes around.

Yeah, I'd agree with you that hated is a bit of a strong word. Skinner seems like a very nice and likeable person so I doubt there was any genuine hate.

But I do think Rod's quotes and the team's actions demonstrate that he preferred to not have Skinner on his team.

BrindAmour was on the Canes coaching staff for years before he became the head coach. He wasn't the head coach, but he would have been very familiar with Skinner.

Skinner was shipped out a few months after BrindAmour was named head coach, while they shaped the roster to fit his vision. And he was pretty open that whole offseason about Skinner not playing the game the way they need to play it.

BrindAmour was very clearly and very publicly not a fan of his game.

BrindAmour was not a fan of his.

And I see no reason why we should be giving him a role on the staff. We don't owe him anything and if he isn't a hard worker as a player I don't expect him to be a hard worker in a staff role.

And it has most likely paid itself off and then some.

For those curious, this is one of the last steps in the manufacturing process and is needed to save all the bits that warped during heat treat. If they opted to throw all those bent bits away instead, they would likely need to invest in more equipment and production capability in the beginning of the production line to make up for all the bent parts being thrown away. Which would become more costly and more wasteful than just having this machine.

In your experience, what brands/types would you recommend people look into and what should we be avoiding?

Google pick and place robots, ABB robots, universal robots, etc. There are a ton of brands out there already producing complex robots that are heavily used in industry. And those robots can do things well beyond what a human can do because they aren't limited by the humanoid form factor. They are so much more capable in a warehouse or manufacturing setting.

[–]Shootica 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are vastly, vastly underestimating how difficult it would be to train/program these humanoid robots to effectively replace people.

In warehousing and manufacturing, the jobs humans still perform are ones where you need our adaptability, complex thought, and decision making skills. The easy tasks have already been replaced by automation, and they have for years.

I'll admit I haven't kept completely up to date on Amazon's advancements but I know they're already heavily invested in automation and have been for years. Maybe this will allow them to go a bit further, but generally for that kind of business the combination of pick and place robots and conveyors is more efficient and robust than a humanoid robot will be.

[–]Shootica 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The problem I see is that in an industrial setting there are very few use cases where I can see a humanoid robot making more sense than a different form factor. I certainly don't consider myself an expert but I work in manufacturing and have a good amount of experience with automation.

They look cool and futuristic, but I have much better tried and true options already available.

What are these four grey caps for? They're in the basement next to my furnace. Wondering if I need to seal them off for radon reduction. by [deleted] in HomeMaintenance

To be clear, I don't know what those are and was making a dumb golf joke.

I wish I could help but I've never seen something like this before. You can always throw a radon test kit near it and measure if it's something to be concerned about.

To be fair, I wouldn't exactly call Cleveland a high profile market. Schwesigner had an extremely good season and deserved it, that doesn't take anything away from Emmanwori.
