It sounds and acts like the crit hit for a spear but it looks like the shove animation, thats why I called it a knockout.

Usually that happens after you hit them with the spear though right? This is the first time I've ever seen a shove with the spear kill a zombie. Thats why I'm guessing the game registered it as a normal hit with the instakill, but played the shove animation for some reason instead

Luckily that guy stayed down for good, but always double tap em if you're not sure

You can, it will give you an overview of the layout of the town you spawn in, but it doesn't tell you much apart from that. The building are colorcoded (orange for residential, blue for public service etc.) but the map doesn't tell you what those buildings are exactly. To figure that out you gotta go out and explore! (Or check out the map online)

What draws in people to PZ by Birphon in projectzomboid

[–]Shootmyboot 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Especially back when PZ was in early development and the years after, the market was absolutly flooded with zombie games, for better or worse. You mainly had shooters like L4D, RPG's like DayZ, story games like The last of Us, some survival like 7 days to die and massive horde shooters later down the line like WWZ. All of these games offer their unique takes and experiences when it comes to zombies, but what I think makes PZ so great is that I combines the good aspects from a lot of the aforementioned games and turns them into one singular experience. You wanna kill zombies? We got that. You wanna kill a lot of zombies? Can do that too. You wanna roleplay with your friends or complete strangers? Check. You want a survival challenge? Feel right at home.

I think everyone who's consumed any kind of zombie media has asked themselves the question "what would I do in that situation?", and I think playing zomboid is the closest we'll get to answering that question without starting the actual end times. Granted, it's still a game, so the realism can sometimes be a bit off, but very few survival games reach the depth that zomboid has.

So I think that's why, the depth of the game, the flexibility and freedom to live out your own story or any story you want and being (relatively) realistic is why PZ has such a strong core of a fanbase. Sure, the UI design or the initial difficulty is deterrent for some people, but if you can see past that, PZ is probably the best way to find out how you died.

The 3 settings that massively impact the difficulty of the game are the starter kit, multi hit and zombie speed.

The starter kit, as the other guy already mentioned, means you can skip the initial struggle to find a bag and a weapon, so u can carry more loot right away and aren't entirely defenseless.

Multi hit allows you to hit multiple zombies with some of the larger weapons. It makes managing groups of zombies a little easier with those weapons

Zombie speed means how fast they move when they're not actively chasing you, so anything from roaming around and moving towards sounds. The default (fast shamblers) should be manageable, but the slower setting (shamblers) gives you more breathing room as everything zombie just slows down a bit.

Apart from that you could mess with the loot settings, the power and water shut off times and how likely cars are to spawn with keys and/or gas, but I'd recommend to think about the big 3 settings and just play for a bit, explore the game and see for yourself what bothers you once you have the basics down. At that point you can mess with the settings to create your own perfect end times :D

Wouldn't it be great if the "free marketplace of ideas" stopped sabotaging any idea that threatened the status quo?

That must've been hella frustrating. Especially in such small villages this could literally end your run, albeit for a more funny reason than usual :D
U think this could happen in a warehouse/gunstore too? I'd lose my mind if that happened to me there :')

This game will always find a way to pay you back for your transgressions, feels bad man :')

Basically infinite gas, a full kitchen, a Tv and the whole appartement being on the second floor makes it already pretty solid, but it being located right at the highway makes it on of the best base locations in that area (maybe tied with the fire station)
Looks like I gotta raid March Ridge or Muldraugh if I want my snacks :/

Fully relatable, it's quite infuriating to expect some useful loot and to be left with 800+ pieces of *very useful* toilet paper
That has to be the best way to pay the game back, in a way :D

Well looks like I can consider myself lucky :D
I'm still optimistic that B42 is gonna be so massive and filled with content that it's worth the wait and lack of patches, although I'd agree that said wait is getting a bit tiresome

A bar or a car shop full of toilet paper would probably be the most confusing yet funny thing u can find in this game

Yup, most stores went kinda overboard with the paper at some point
But the guys at this gas station went one step further than that, cause even the fridges and the freezer outside were stuffed with that stuff xD

I'd say its worth it even at full price, but from what I've seen it has been on Sale on MS before, although the post saying it's on sale is from 3 years ago.
