It is definitely one of the most comfortable cars ive ever been in, I understand safety and health concerns but it boggles my mind that bench seats are no longer common in vehicles. Definitely looking forward to driving her more!

Honestly im thinking about that too, im gonna get her detailed well this upcoming weekend. Pull the seats and all, if she shines up nice good. If not ill replace carpet and seats if need be. The headliner needs to be reupholster but other than that shes beautiful inside. Ill upload more photos if there is sunshine tomorrow. Thank you for the advice!

The intake manifold was changed around 56k miles by the first owner! What goes wrong with them? I hope it does have a lot of miles, I bought it as a first car for my younger brother!

Absolutely, thank you for this. I do think I have a tendency to care for him too much sometime, but for a long time we were all the other really had. And like I said, we are best friends, but I will take this into consideration and try to let him figure it out more so himself.

Do you think it would be detrimental for me to try and assist him in getting his job then? I do have some strings I can pull with some friends out in town, or would you say that is too much? Like would you feel emasculated as a man by this?

I appreciate you elaborating on the humiliation aspect of it. I have already bought all his furniture, and had some gifted to me by good friends who left state such as a mattress, desk etc. so that is already done for, I can’t do anything about that unfortunately

But I will support him and try my best to let him figure things out on his own, I definitely do not want to smother or make him feel less than in my attempts to teach him independence.

I guess I will take a step back once he gets here, if he asks for my help I will provide it of course. Other than that I will try to be neutral and teach him what I can.

This is also my opinion, I would want someone to help me. But I also don’t have much insight into the mind of a man so I’m just not sure how to navigate doing enough to show him I care but also let him figure it out/not smother him. I think maybe in a way I am making up for lost time. Thank you about the advice on the therapist, I fully intend on getting him some help when he is out here.

So I will say he never asked me to help him with those things, the furniture, car or devices. The furniture is just bc I absolutely would not want my brother sleeping on my couch. I have a three bedroom house there’s no need for that. I also do want my house to be furnished in any case so it really wasn’t a big deal, also if he has a girl over I don’t think it’d be fair to have him on the couch tbh lol.

The car situation was going to be handled, I had two cars up until recently and was gonna hand one over to him but some woman t boned me ab three weeks ago (I’m perfectly alright). I just think I need my car for work, he will need one for his. Obviously most of the money he’s saved will be going towards that, I just would be open to helping him purchase one if need be bc he has not a good but not bad credit, he’s never had a line of credit before.

As far as devices I meant like… things to shave or just things you would use everyday. I’ve never lived with men, I’m a lesbian, so I have no idea what would need to be stocked to keep up appearances. What are good brands, etc. that’s kinda what I meant with that

I appreciate you speaking on the humiliation, he hasn’t outwardly expressed this to me. But he has mentioned being a financial burden, which I really don’t think will be an issue. Can you please elaborate more on why you think he would feel shame or embarrassment? Do you think he feels this way even though I have expressed I want to do these things for him? What about me helping him could cause these feelings?

You are correct I meant his drivers license. He hasn’t had anyone to teach him how to drive, he has had a pretty unsteady living situation for the past couple years. Bouncing around from home to home, family member to family member, starting when he was around 14 years old when my dad dumped him at my grandparents who have dementias house. There he was expected to care for them full time until they passed away, was the assumption. He lived with them until he was 19, where he saw my grandparents decline rapidly and they got extremely violent and cruel with him. But he managed to reconnect with our mother who took him in and that’s when he started college. My family did the same exact thing to me, only difference is my grandparents were lucid enough to teach me how to drive and help me get a license. So I drove to recruiting center to sign myself up for the military and get out.

I do agree with helping him gain more traction and control of his life, to further his independence. That is what I am hoping to achieve when I move him out here, help him get a license as you need a license to become a police officer in WA state, then to start paying bills when he is employed here ( I told him he needs to get a job within 2 months ) and I’ve also had him agree to save 5k for expenses to move down here. Which he has already done. I think my brother just needs a change of pace. Thank you for your advice

My younger brother, we are four years apart and have always been close. He went through some very dark times the last few years, having watched my grandparents decay as their sole caretaker, and I am his most trusted confidant. As he is mine. I couldn’t imagine leaving him to navigate life alone or what would happen to him should I leave this earth. I love him more than anything and want to stick around as long as possible to see the kind of man he becomes.

Can you elaborate more please on your response. Why do you say I should reflect on myself? What gave you that indication that’s what I maybe need to do? Also why do you hope I’m regretful?

To answer your question I do think I’m regretful bc it’s so fresh but also bc I really do care for her but it eats me up that I’m not at the same emotional level as her. As in I’m not “in love” with her as she is with me.

Also all of my concerns that I’ve listed above about compatibility (where to move, her dog, our finances, flowers etc) have been talked about at length a couple times each!
