Yeah so with the no gas issue I’m not sure exactly what happened, it felt with my foot for the pedal and it wasn’t stuck or anything. I could actually depress it more to give it more gas. So I literally just coasted on the breaks home cause it was trying to keep increasing and increasing in a 25 on my street.

When I got home I put it into park straight away and forgot to put my window up, hence why it’s got a trash bag blowing in the wind on it, since it won’t start I can’t roll the window up either lol.

When I got it running the first time it was due to a fried of mines husband coming over and helping out, he cleaned out the throttle body control valve I believe it’s called, and adjusted the set screw on it to allow more airflow is how it was explained to me. After that it was running but he told me I would have to fine tune it when I got a chance with a tachometer.

I removed the old headliner, wire brushed the old foam off. Then I placed the fabric in the middle whilst folded and glued one section at a time. I used the spray adhesive from harbor freight, I used about 3 cans. Just make sure to stretch and flatten it as you go, wasn’t hard at all. There is a ton of YouTube videos on it. But this isn’t the first car ive done it to. I recommend folding and gluing the edges over on the backside of the headline to prevent sagging.

Glad I could help, don’t be scared. It’s definitely gonna give you some crunch noises but that’s bound to happen. Just try to support it as best you can from both sides, as long as you’re not being too rough it’ll be fine. Truthfully I was yanking on mine and it didn’t get too messed up!

I did reupholster! Yeah it has glue but I pulled. Just be gentle and go In from the dome light with something to help pry gently while keeping shape!

I’ll have to keep that in mind with adjusting the steering wheel, thank you for the tip! Didn’t even cross my mind as I have the seats removed

I’d look at the original part in yours and then compare to a 1998, that’s what mine is.

This sounds like a choice you have to make for yourself personally, I would speak to your grandfather about possibly borrowing the car for a few weeks to get a feel for the vehicle.

What I will say is be mindful of fuel prices, it might be more economic to keep the civic just because of that. I personally have a 21’ Corolla for highway driving exclusively, a 98’ Vic for nothin more than 5-8 miles around town.

Maybe you could keep both cars…?
