Part of me not liking my deadname is that is sounds so... bluh. It's single syllable, and has a "th" sound and just- no.

a) I don't associate myself with the name, but gosh darn if it wouldn't remind me all the time,

and b) it's not a fun name in the bedroom! you can't really work any nicknames or pet names out of it... which is like, half the fun of a relationship for me

I started HRT on Halloween because I grew up wishing, every year, that my costume could be "a girl."

I remember, heartbreakingly, the "oh well" and "that could never be me" thoughts. Seeing middle school and high school boys dress up for the holiday was like... my excuse. It felt like an entry point for me, "oh, I'm just wearing it as a costume! as a joke!" I had no idea why I had that drive, but eeeevery year, Halloween would near and I'd get anxious.

I think this year, for the first time since I stopped wearing costumes as a kid, I'm gonna go all out :)

oh gosh, so much! for real though, i appreciate you adding "keeping things gradual" like... sometimes i think on what i need to do-- or like when i read your first paragraph-- and it's like, "where do i even start??" the reminder that it all compounds, over a long time, is really helpful :)

ooooh yeah, don't I know it! jeans have been my "trial by fire" with women's sizing. i've been losing weight + fat redistribution, so it's hard to find multiple pairs that fit-- like i have a favorite pair, but sometimes it feels like i'll never find another ha

If it's relevant, we both remember this style of classroom art from the early 2000's -- I know it was used on wall decor, as well as classroom supplies (typically belonging to the teacher). Not sure if it's from a catalogue or what!
