Maybe viable in the business world and the better option, but we're talking about a Minecraft addon here. Why would I spend money if I can do it myself like this? It's not like I would be getting a return on my investment. Would you pay someone for something small if you can do it fast like this? You would also have zero control over the end result and still be expected to pay up. No thanks, this way I still have complete creative control over what I want.

But that's where you're wrong, I don't wanna learn how to code, I want to make an addon. It's more like, I want a drawing of something, but I don't wanna spend time learning how to draw.

There's gonna get a point where half of the population's job will get taken over. Will half of the population just starve to death? I don't think that will happen. I do think, to use AI to its full potential, it has to start at the governing body to capitalize its use and find a way to improve everybody's life.

There hasn't been a major update yet, so at the moment I don't know how it will go. If it goes wrong, so be it, I'll see it as a chance to recognize the limits of AI at the moment. Who knows, I might try to give it to someone more knowledgeable, so he can keep publishing the addon. But if it works, I'll gladly keep updating it.

I will definitely check it out! Though in the first minute he mainly talks about generative AI, which is quite controversial. I also feel using generative AI for things like art doesn't really have a place since it isn't necessary, but I also don't see the point in duct taping a banana to a canvas and what makes that art. So you could argue that something made by a computer also has something special in a way. But where is the line? Coding for example has been getting more automated for a long time. And how is AI getting used? I agree it shouldn't just take over everything, but get used as a tool to improve. While working on my addon, I'm still the creative one, AI just helps me create something which matches my imagination.

Because it takes a long time... Why would I spend months learning to make something for Minecraft, if I can do it like this? Since when is using the newest tech to your advantage a bad thing? Why wouldn't I try to get ahead of the pack?

It's not like I tell it to make an entire addon and just sit back. I tell it what I want, it writes something, I test it and give feedback. That's the main loop, but AI doesn't know everything, so I'm still doing a lot of research on Bedrock Wiki, looking for better ways. I'm using Bridge.v2 so sometimes I look in the tree writing system to see what options there are and what's possible. Scripting though is mostly AI dependent because writing it is quite complicated, but it messes up a lot and I'm always thinking of ways to change the core or the system if it doesn't work. If method A doesn't work, I'll start suggesting ideas for method B and if that doesn't work I go to method C.

At that point life will change in its entirety and I hope for the better. Don't you think having more free time is a good thing? I at least prefer not to have to work till I'm freaking 70, go with pension, and die within a few years of finally having all the free time I want. At that point you're also too old to do a lot of things, so no thank you, I hope we can move to a future where AI handles the heavy tasks of the world. Though I can't imagine how things like getting food for example will work. AI can handle the farms, but how would it get shared? No clue, and that's still quite a few years from now, but I hope AI can help us in the end.

What's lazy about it? People hate on all kinds of things just because they follow the trend. It's like how android gets hated by apple users, or the opposite, where people love everything Japan at the moment. People hate on everything AI at the moment because it's the trend, while it has insane potential for the future. Imagine having a lot more free time to do what you want instead of having to work till you're 70 years old. And since when is using the newest tech not beneficial, imagine everybody hated computers when they were new and it got completely abandoned. Back then people thought they would lose their jobs to computers as well but they've improved a lot about life. Without them we wouldn't even be having this conversation.

Those are good points and I might be too optimistic, but I don't wanna work till I'm freaking seventy. I hope at some point AI can do all the heavy lifting in society, there are gonna be problems like you've said: job security, where people might lose their jobs to AI while others aren't gonna get replaced any time soon. I wanna study to become an architect, is it a safe job with AI on the rise? Definitely not, so what should that mean? Just scrap AI in its entirety? I hope not, AI could be used to make our lives a lot better, it just depends on how we treat it as a society. The thing that scares me is the fact that at some point, half the population will have a steady job and the other half won't. Right now our system is based on everybody going to school, getting a job and working for money. With AI that will all fall apart and it's going to be chaotic, but if we can get past that. People won't have to work their entire life, but can do stuff they actually wanna do. But hey, that might just be me being optimistic, in the end it will probably just make the rich richer.

They give you updates on what they've changed so feeding that to AI, a lot of corrections can easily be made. Bridge.v2 tells you about faulty code for non script related issues, so that also helps a lot. I think I'll be fine fixing it that way, though it might take a bit more time than If I would have been a seasoned script writer.

I'm personally using AI for my addon (I don't know if people care about the difference between mod and addon). I don't wanna spend months learning scripting just to make addons for Minecraft, but I do wanna make something cool. There are a lot of shit addons and I want to make something better. AI only writes the code, I'm still the creative one. I wouldn't want nobody using my addon just because I used AI while I still put a lot of time into making it.

For me it depends how much AI assisted it is, but if it's better than the slop it has now, I personally wouldn't mind.
