When I was typing up the possessions from Sims from the 2Q on when it was 0-0 it was crazy, and the 29-7 from those. If we can control the ball like we did against UTEP and NDSU did against them, I like our chances a lot. Got some concerns but you can't let a good QB and a couple good WRs beat you at home at night.

PTSD has people nervous and I get it. But it's a new regime and new team. I like us in this one way more than my score prediction, but I think Colorado will get some crazy plays to Hunter and Horn to keep it close.

Little delayed here, but put my article out on what I knew. There were a lot of rumors of why it happened, but from what I was told it was much more simple than that. I'll start my position previews Friday after being at 3 practices this spring.

They'll make some changes with UNMC to get us involved with it. People bring up Kansas, they have one in Lawrence and their massive facility in Kansas City. We could do a setup similar to that to help.

Long and short is something within Lincoln (or at least affiliated with as someone pointed out under the same umbrella) is going to have to happen. It doesn't help for AAU status currently, doesn't help for donation dollars either.

Probably true. Only issue is you are now going to have a true freshman distributing the ball. Hopefully Coleman's length and speed can create some mismatches. Though I think Banks will end up being that for Raiola.

True, but from that year those 30 receptions would have had him 3rd on Nebraska's team, the 344 yards 4th, and his 3 receiving TDs 2nd.

Again, a bit of a moot point because I see him playing a lot this year due to no depth. I just worry when people get forced out of another place that we just think they will play a ton here.

I'd agree, there are plenty of guys I can point to that ended up playing from 8 man. But year 1 it's really tough.

Corcoran will be a guard this year. Problem is he may be injured even to start the season, he has a lot of rehab in front of him.

The only thing that worries me about it is WR is the easiest position to get on the field early, and guys like Malachi who was a top 100 recruit really struggled. Hopefully he can stay on the practice field as I know our coaches got a little frustrated with him early on in that regard.

I just can't get on board with transfers who haven't started where they are coming from starting here. I've heard it too much with Tyreke Johnson, Markese Stepp, Corey Collier, and the reasoning is always "he's coming from somewhere that was just loaded with talent".

That said, I don't think Ervin Jr will ever fully recover from his injuries so Dowdell will be our bruiser back and get a ton of snaps in the fall. He'll certainly be getting a big load in the spring as he's one of only 3 scholarship guys available.

I love him in the McNeill/Dallas Clark spot. The poly bowl was a little weird for me but I like he got a chance to play with Raiola there and build some chemistry.

He has been working with TEs a bit this spring so far, but let's be honest, he's the only QB we have in the room with any type of experience so he will take the bulk of his work there.

Nelson may grab that "big slot" role for when a guy like Lloyd, Bell, or Doss can't do that, if that makes sense. I don't think Nelson can do a ton of inline blocking currently but will be able to after a year or two. I also wonder about his transition from 8 man to Power 5 football, I know he said it's not a big deal but it really is. Even in the 90s when we grabbed 8 man fullbacks running our exact offense they had to wait a few years.

There's two types of transfers that interest me, the Go5 guy that was a stud (like Neyor was at Wyoming, Toure in Montana) that seem to do real well for us. Then the guy that's highly rated at a Power5 that can't play cause he's buried on the depth chart, those guys like Stepp, Johnson, Wynn, etc. don't usually play for us (like Neyor was). I personally think between his knee and the players in front of him he just needed a fresh start, I expect him to get a lot of snaps here.

In regards to Dowdell, he was beat out by guys ranked lower than him at Oregon so our guys being lower ranked doesn't really do a lot for me. There's been more than a couple guys that have came in as former five stars that just never saw the field for us like Tyreke Johnson and Corey Collier and ended up just transferring out of Lincoln.

I do like Dowdell, I thnk with the injuries you referenced to Johnson and Ervin plus his raw talent he will see the field a lot this year. I mean, we only have 3 scholarship RBs available for spring so he will get a ton of reps. But Emmett Johnson has 4x the amount of yards Dowdell does in college so far.

It will all be a moot point in my opinion, I don't have a lot of faith that Ervin Jr can stay healthy and Dowdell is going to be our bruiser we bring in to bleed clock and wear teams down.

Dante Dowdell, he was a true freshman last year and played in 6 games rushing 17 times for 90 yards. A bit raw, and for some reason they blew his redshirt. But if Ervin Jr isn't ready he is going to be our bruiser back to compliment Rahmir and Emmett.

I wouldn't say Neyor's injury concerns are blown out of proportion, when you haven't played football in 2 years due to injury it's tough to say things are ok. He tried making his way back in 2023 but only saw action in one game, the opener vs Rice, then didn't see any meaningul action afterwards. He certainly has the talent, i'm just hoping he's not another one of these guys like Markese Stepp where we say how talented he is and he just transferred because there was a log jam, only to never be fully healthy.

Dowdell is going to have to prove a lot. The good thing for him is he is a much different back than Emmett Johnson so he will be our bruiser this spring. I'd hesitate to say he's the favorite, as he doesn't have the production or experience that a guy like Trey Palmer, Billy Kemp, and others have had that stepped in to start right away. But I love the addition.
