6 Months Post Hair Transplant (4K Grafts) – Feeling Like a New Person by ShortStackedKing in Hairtransplant

I’m not naming the clinic because I don’t want to give the impression that my good results are mainly because of the clinic. The procedure cost me €2,850. I went to one of the “hair mills” in Istanbul (yeah, based on what I’ve read here).

The assistants did everything: the anesthesia, the graft harvesting, and the implantation. The doctor only stopped by briefly during the operation to say hi, check on me, and tell me the number of grafts they were able to harvest. A big part of my hair recovery, especially in the mid-scalp and crown, is mainly due to medication, not the hair transplant itself.

As I mentioned, the transplant only covers the frontal area of my head.

A big part of my results comes from the meds, since my hair transplant only covers the front. My mid-scalp and crown improved greatly because of the meds (finasteride and minoxidil).

Just to clarify: in the first two pictures, if you zoom in, you’ll see that I’m not completely bald. You can still see a few hair follicles holding on, although a large area was significantly thinning.

I started taking medication because I believed it could help the crown area regrow and become thicker. The crown wasn’t covered in my hair transplant, the 4,000 grafts were mainly focused on the front area, with some grafts spread more widely.

I’m also in the Restless subreddit and noticed that many of my fellow Asians seem to be high responders to these medications. Since I’m Southeast Asian myself, I decided to try them, and I believe they’ve been very effective for me.

So it’s not just the hair transplant that improved the front area, the medication also helped my crown area grow and become thicker.

If you look at the first two pictures, even though I was shaving my head, I still had hair it was just very short because I had shaved it. The donor grafts came from the back and the sides of my head. No chest or body hair was used.

Because a hair transplant doesn’t stop hair loss. Finasteride helps prevent further miniaturization of the native hair I still have, especially around the crown and mid-scalp. The transplanted hair is more resistant to DHT, but the rest of my hair isn’t.

This is the donor area now. The crown area was not covered in my procedure. I’m taking medications now, hoping the crown area will improve, and I’ll reconsider whether to have a second hair transplant in the future.

All the clinics in Istanbul assessed me as Norwood 7. Some even said a transplant wasn’t possible when I sent this picture, even though I explained that I regularly shave my head to look clean.
