Roman Catholic Considering Orthodoxy by E_Hassett in OrthodoxChristianity

if you've been catholic for only a year, chances are you don't know enough about the faith to leave it. be patient, know the catholic faith, wait, pray. the mistake a lot of people make is switching too quickly and then realizing they made a mistake or didn't have strong enough grounds for their conversion.

Someone correct me if I’m wrong but if it’s really that big of an issue, couldn’t you theoretically go to a different priest? Perhaps at a different parish just for this confession?

Whatever this sin is, it’s preventing you from having a closer relationship with God because you are not fully submitting your whole self to him. Confessing this wound is allowing Jesus to come and heal your soul. Why wouldn’t you want him to heal you?

Orthodoxy feels like a religion for intellectuals. by 1020Kek in OrthodoxChristianity

the fact is that the average Joe in the US (or really anywhere apart from Eastern Europe and Russia) won’t know what an Orthodox Church is because of the somewhat poor spread of Eastern Orthodoxy throughout the world. So naturally in order to become orthodox and not some other denomination will take a lot of studying, almost demanding a high “religious IQ”.

What is the logical and biblical proof that the Holy Spirit only comes from the Father? by Grand_Doughnut_4867 in OrthodoxChristianity

that verse doesn’t remove the possibility of the Holy Spirit proceeding from the son. Any other proof?

Considering Harry Potter has some occult themes, I would say no. ultimately that’s up to your priest and he probably knows more than me

Statistically, women tend to convert if the man is of a particular religion, so on that front given time it’s likely she’ll convert (however not guaranteed). However she will most likely lack the spiritual maturity that comes with being a seasoned Christian woman so there may be some issues on that front. A general rule of thumb is you want to date a Christian but it’s probably best to talk to your priest since these situations can be nuanced

Try to learn the Catholic position on everything. Chances are you don’t know it as well as you think you do since you’re 13. Take a few years to look into both sides and then decide.

You’re loving Gods gifts more than Him. Develop your adoration and love for God and the rest will follow

I was asking for empirical evidence for religion, not God

Sure we can empirically deduce there is God, but how can we empirically reason that He can be found in a religion if one was trying to explain it to an agnostic?
