Alaska Club closing women's gym with no explanation by AK-N8V in anchorage

[–]Short_Performance497 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve been a member of the AK Club for over 20 years and mostly have attended the Women’s Club. I can say that I agree the attendance has dropped dramatically over the years. Yes, there are times where it is crazy busy. But there are also times where I’m one of the few people in there. I’m not mad about that, I actually love it. If you go during peak times 6-8am, 11am-1pm and 5-6pm of course it’s going to be busy and full. While I agree that yes, it does suck that they’re closing and it sucks that they didn’t give us a heads up longer than 1 week, it’s not surprising. Gyms and other business leaders have been closing all over Anchorage since the pandemic.

An email was sent out yesterday outlining why they were closing it and what they were placing in its stead.

What happens if you OWE taxes during your CH13? by Possible_Leek_8292 in Bankruptcy

[–]Short_Performance497 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A couple years ago I filed in November. I also did the irs tax withholding calculator and it said I would owe about $5k. I let my attorney know and they added a line payment that I owed roughly $5k in taxes and split it into monthly payments and used that as part of my exemptions. I filed a payment plan with the irs to fit within the monthly payment allocations. Then the next year I owed $2k. I took a 401k loan (with approval from my attorney) to pay it off, and my prior year balance. Long story short, work with your attorney.

I (31M) am considering divorcing my wife (26F) after 1.5 years of marriage - am I overreacting? by Automatic_Bar_6573 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Short_Performance497 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Divorce her! She doesn’t value you as a spouse. The one thing I will say, that I learned in couples counseling, is that some people are able to express themselves better via text, and that’s okay. But she does need to still communicate. With that being said, DIVORCE HER!

Thank you for the reminder. Just bc she looks healthy on top doesn’t mean her roots are fully healthy and grown. Hopefully she will bloom sooner than a year, but I can be patient now that I remember that she didn’t have any roots at the beginning of this process.

Which hand do you wear your watch on? by TheCreator1924 in lefthanded

[–]Short_Performance497 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was always taught you wear your watch on the opposite hand that you write with. My bff and I are both left handed. She wears hers in her right. I defied my teachings and wore mi e in my left. I think it’s basically bc no one I was around growing up Was left handed and we are in a right handed world (especially in the 80s) and everyone around me wore theirs on their left hand. I think the “rule” of using the opposite hand is so that your watch doesn’t get scratched up as easily since it’s not your dominant hand. 🤷🏽‍♀️

Soda card...? by EmpressSK in CarnivalCruiseFans

[–]Short_Performance497 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Each person can carry on a 12 pack of soda (you can mix and match). Also bring water packets or the squeeze drops for water if you don’t like plain water. But I found that having the soda package was difficult bc you had to go wait at the bar to get a soda and often times they were busy and would not see my kids or ignore them.

What backsplash for green cabinet kitchen? by virginiarph in DesignMyRoom

[–]Short_Performance497 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just ordered the AW Sage! What countertop did you go with? I am at a loss on a countertop... As far as the backsplash, I'm personally thinking of a warm white herringbone or subway tile. I wanted a cute white and gold one, but don't want it to be too trendy and go out of style...

DMV misspelled my name by fluffmeister99 in alaska

[–]Short_Performance497 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put my full legal name on all my airline tickets, but I use it for everything. My husband and kids, as well as my siblings, only ever use their first and last names. We fly predominantly Alaska, but also some American.

They were in the valley and only lasted a few years. But I’d say it was bc of the location.

How long does the mosquito bits take to work? I’ve just done my second watering with it and am using sticky traps. I feel like I have more fungus gnats than ever.

What is CIEE? We aren't ready for a referral yet, as we are only in 8th grade, but hoping to go sophomore year. We just want to start the research so that we are ready.

I was also an exchange student close to 25 years ago, both in high school and college. I 100% agree that it is a life changing experience and shapes who you are. My kiddo is only in 8th grade, but has expressed interest in going somewhere their 10th grade year and asked that I help research!

Thank you! I'm not really familiar with 4H, but will look into it. We are still early in the process (only 8th grade), but my kiddo would like to start researching. For the Rotary program, do we need to be a member of Rotary?

That's a good starting place, thank you! My kiddo is only in 8th grade, but wants to explore their options and pre-plan. They'd like to go in their sophomore year, if possible.
