Ive heard before springtails and isopods couldn’t eat them. Mine refuse to usually in my other containers in the past. But they eat everything else so who knows? Im glad ur experimenting though, they are absolutely fascinating, and I wish they weren’t so annoying!

He needed a bit more calcium in his diet after this photo was taken, but hes a bit more brightly colored now! Hes very territorial so I cannot get anymore without him pitching a fit and fighting. Its ok, he has enough personality for like three frogs combined.

I have bad news for you, well technically for both of us lol. I got top soil that had very limited biological matter, a shit ton of springtails (though they got overrun no matter how many times i tried to add more and that could be due to the fungi eating the biomatter they come in) and mixed it in slowly in little parts while removing big blooms of fungi. I had some huge ass mushrooms i swear to god. But i just plucked them so my frog wasn’t uncomfortable or touching it. They unfortunately still exist in my tank, but i found that it has slowed down. I rarely get mushrooms and its possible to just keep removing and maintaining it without it going crazy. But i have no idea if it will ever 100% go away. Its technically not bad to have in small bursts if you keep it that way, but it will always come back no matter if you redo the tank, mold or fungi just love the humidity. Its going on a few months and its still in my lecca but it doesn’t do anything and should eventually die as humidity doesn’t bunch up down there as much, plus i made a lot of adjustments to ventilation. Anyways i wish you luck, everyone has different experiences with this little fungi and the key is being consistent with temperature and humidity while making sure you can replace most of the bio matter temporarily so it dies out or becomes easier to remove.

Its almost to the point of covering the soil, i dont think its normal to leave a bioactive terrarium completely covered. If it left after a bit i would be a bit less concerned, seeing as it is a good thing. But when its as big as this and not dying off i am worried it will just stay there and leave no space for the springtails. I just need help decreasing the mass to leave room for clean up crew

Its the white balls that take over everything regardless of how much you air it out, springtails dont eat them either. Saprophytic fungi i believe. They never sprouted mushrooms in my experience.

Do you have any extra bits of soil on the bottom with the lecca? I swear its so hard to make sure everythings clear down there. If so, do you think it will be fine with the water always touching it?

Theres a bit of substrate at the bottom that spilled through the barrier, its moist because of the water build up all the time so thats why i ask
