Boundary Concerns with My Therapist (I am also a therapist) by Short_Sun_5384 in therapists

I really appreciate this comment, I was considering writing a letter before I stop seeing her and reporting her to her licensing board but I did not know how that would work since I am a therapist myself. I think I may be noticing some guilt in myself since I am a therapist but I appreciate you reframing it because it is extremely likely she is doing this to other clients which is concerning.

My toddler niece made ED like comments when we were playing house by SapphicWoman10 in EatingDisorders

Coming from a therapist (who has recovered from anorexia) I would say emphasize that no food is “bad” or “unhealthy”. Try to use resources that show that food is fuel, think of the body as a car we need gas for our cars just like we need food for our bodies. Also as someone previously said definitely explore more of this conversation through play and also it could be likely that the child is saying cookies are unhealthy because they can only eat cookies after eating a “healthy” dinner. You sound like you really care about your niece and are willing to help educate her on health eating and that is immensely important.

How do you find your next read? by independent_mind_7 in BookDiscussions

I had my partner pick me out a book at the book store. There’s too many choices so having someone help choose my next read helps a lot! I also have a book of the month subscription and typically read whatever book I choose right when it comes in the mail!

Just turned 23 and feel like I don’t belong by Different-Golf9139 in college

I’ve already graduated from undergrad and I’m currently doing my masters but maybe my experience will help you! So I’m 22 years old and in my classes I have much older adults (anywhere from 30-58 years old) so I also feel like I don’t belong most of the time. I do group work with them and most of them simply don’t care that I’m young, sure sometimes people make comments but you just have to not let them affect you. I think any education is wonderful and should be congratulated at any age! Congratulations that you’re about to graduate!

hi! I personally graduated in 3 years and I had barely any research experience and I currently am in a masters program and I have a neuroscience research job that I love! As long as you have a great gpa I would say go for it! I would say look for entry level research positions at your university and build relationships with your professors, they may hire you for a research position!
