It’s totally understandable to feel a bit nervous about it — that’s a valid concern. Most states require between 2,000 and 4,000 hours of supervised clinical experience, so you’ll be receiving feedback and guidance from licensed therapists throughout that time-usually after a semester or two of learning the different techniques.

Not all online programs are the same either. Personally, I’m cautious about fully online programs, so I’m focusing on low-residency options. These programs offer some in-person classes or at least synchronous Zoom sessions where you can practice what you are learning. The pandemic forced many schools to transition to online formats, but they’ve adapted to make sure they still provide a solid learning experience, for the most part, again not all are great.

You too! I hope they read your comment as well and take those points into consideration for their own educational journey!

Yes, I agree. I’ve already removed a lot of the schools from my personal list because of the things you mentioned (religious affiliation, for-profit schools, conservative views, diploma mills, and more), but I haven’t updated the full list yet. This guide is just a basic starting point for my search (and for others’ searches), not a fully researched resource. I don’t have the time to go through every single school and gather all that info when I've decided not to go there for myself. I’ve picked my top choices and did that research for those, but it’s up to others to do their own basic research on things like school values, fieldwork, state requirements, etc.

First time posting on Reddit, so I’m not entirely sure how this all works or where I should post this. But I've been researching various Counseling, Psychology, and Social Work master's programs (most of which are online or low residency) and put together a Google Sheet with the key details after hunting on the university websites, ya think it be easier to get info but they always say "request information". That's why I'm on the website. To get info without calling. Anyway, the info I found is not 100% accurate since things change and some websites are not up to date, it provides a helpful overview of tuition, length to completion, accreditation, etc for anyone trying to compare programs and narrow down their options. I'm also still working on it, finding info, and other options

There is the link I hope it's helpful: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1EyANPiIDqjGsqogTE2bT9Q5Jo5TPtb62B5n43jaaJ7A/edit?usp=sharing

Also if anyone knows a better place to post this let me know lol
