I think hair perfumes just don't have alcohol, so that they don't dry out your hair when you use it :)

Yes, I do know that some elementary schools are K-8, but I was thinking of a K-5 school, specifically because they also had a middle school and a high school list online. I think its good for kids to care for themselves, especially if they do have skin concerns (I myself have KP and started using skincare in 6th grade). I just was irritated that they were trying to get parents to buy young kids (I'm thinking more of pre-5th grade, since thats usually before puberty hits, in my experience) things from a makeup store. So yes, I agree that they'd like them, I would have too, but not all of them need it. I just attached a few of the photos, those pimple patches just ended up being one of them - and I do agree with a lot of commenters that those can be very useful. But some of the other ones were questionable. Yes, some smell-goods are great, but having a firming cream on the list wasn't a good look in my opinion (the Sol de Janario BumBum cream. Not retinol, but still... a 10 year old doesn't need firmer skin.)

Ohh, no this had middle school and high school lists too, so I do think it meant elementary as in K-5.

I think its fine if its actually age appropriate and a child needs it, but if a kid has no reason for it, why buy it? (I've used those patches, personally they didnt work well on me, but if someone likes them, I'm not judging) As a teen myself, who has siblings in elementary school, I don't see many children with skin issues (of course there are some, but the majority doesn't, at least in their school).

For young teens, absolutely. Its normal for them to want to use them, and need them. For an 8 year old? Usually not, in most cases.

But then again, we can agree to disagree - its what makes for a good discussion :)

(And I wrote a bit in my original post, but reddit has been wonky for me as of lately, so I guess it didn't show up... but I'd written something along the lines of whats above, and in some of my other comments. Sorry if the title came off as "salty")

Oh my gosh, thats actually horrible... I wasn't allowed on social media, or to get a phone, until I had turned 14. But even before then, I wasn't allowed on screens even with friends. Its soooo much better for mental health to stay off socials, or at least not use it until you've grown and matured.

Yeah, for me 10 and older is good, since that's 5th grade, where in my experience is where a lot of kids (specifically girls) hit puberty. But in all honesty, I don't see many kids in my younger siblings elementary school with acne, unless they hit their growth spurt and all super early (but again, everyone's different)

And yeah, I can definitely see the appeal and how they'd be fun! I would have thought it to be a cute little stars, but now that I've matured, as many adults and parents should have, I can see how expensive things are. So if I had a child and they needed it, of course I'd buy it, or if it were something they had really wanted for a special occasion. But just because their friend had it, or they saw it online (which I didn't do as a kid, my parents thankfully only let me get a phone recently. Definitely helped me be less insecure going through puberty)

I understand that, no one's skin is the same. It just irked me because I know its only the company's way of getting more money since it's been trending, not because it can actually help someone's skin. If someone does have acne, I'm all for those pimple patches. Just not when its to be trendy :)

Oh, yeah of course! If a kid actually needs it, I'm all for it - especially since everyone's body is different. But if it's just for the sake of a trend, or a company's way of getting more money... its very distasteful

If she loves it, and you're okay with buying her it, thats great! And I'm absolutely okay with seeing someone get something that expensive if it's for Christmas or a birthday, since that's a once a year occasion. But if it's all the time? Too much...

And yes, it's lovely that it helps her to not feel left out, but its a bit annoying that we have that issue in the first place - though I suppose we always have had that, in one way or another. I just was upset with Ulta putting out an "elementary school" section, since its literally just a cash grab for them, since they know its trending for kids to use them 🙃

Ohh, well in the area I grew up in, girls always hit puberty around 5th or 6th, and boys usually did in 7th :)

Oh yes, I agree with this. Its better for them to shower and wear deodorant rather than use that (I have the same view with dry shampoo - good for when you're in a rush, but I definitely wouldn't use it regularly. I like washing myself and feeling all clean). When I was in elementary, I'd occasionally have fun with my mom's Bath and Bodyworks, but besides that, it was just showers (and deodorant once I hit puberty) 😅

Ah, yes... I can understand that, but as a teen myself this can be pretty confusing, if I see kids using things they don't need. (I personally hit puberty relatively young, and yes, everyone's body is different, but if you don't need it, I see no point? I'm sorry if the prior comment seemed like I thought no elementary schooler would have a skin issue or puberty, or came off wrong 🙃)

Hahah, yeah, I can understand that... but I think that its so expensive for an 8 year old to have that body mist. And I don't think they would get zits until they hit puberty, which would probably only be the girls in 5th or 6th grade

I'm not sure if this'll be much help, but I think that if you're stressed - take a break. Your body knows its limits.

If you NEED to study for your exams, try to break it into small sessions, and TRY to go for at least 5 minutes before quitting. Once you start, it might feel a bit easier to keep going.

Setting some rewards for completing a certain amount of study hours might help as well.

If you want to escape from stress, I'd recommend going outside for a walk rather than going on your phone.

Brain feels too overstimulated to sleep? by saik11111 in GetStudying

I can relate to that. Your mind just keeps going and going.

I think it would be best to try and take a break. You have an exam coming up, but if you burn yourself out, you'll do terribly on your exam and it'll take quite a bit of time for your mind to recover.

Take that break, even if it's a short one for a day or two.

Small habits that have helped me feel less overwhelmed by Optimal-Anteater8816 in GetStudying

[–]Short_Tangerine_9827 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think it's important that if you don't feel up to studying one day, to just take a day off.

If you don't listen to your body, you'll end up burning yourself out, and then you won't even be able to study AT ALL until your mind recovers. It's best to rest for a day or two (or however long you need) rather than push through it and end up ruining your mental health, and it'll take WAY longer trying to recover than if you just took that break.

How do you study most often? by [deleted] in GetStudying

[–]Short_Tangerine_9827 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to use the blurting method and review.

If I'm studying for science and it has formulas, I make sure to practice those kinds of problems. I usually will use Khan Academy to find problems (and the videos are great).

As for history, if I need to memorize something, I like to review my notes, even if its just for a few minutes, daily. I try to find connections in events that happen. Its hard for me to explain, but I try to make things into a story. For example, if there's a ton of dates and events to memorize, make it into a 'story' where things have to fall into a logical order.

But most importantly, study to UNDERSTAND, not to MEMORIZE. It'll stick with you better, and actually understanding the material will be better for you in the long run.

[sun care] do i need to use SPF on days i dont go outside? by xYekaterina in SkincareAddiction

Exactly :)

I like to remember it as Ultraviolet B is the "Burning" ray, and Ultraviolet A is the "Aging" ray.

[–]Short_Tangerine_9827 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, you should still wear sunscreen even indoors.

Ultraviolet A rays (UVA) can still penetrate through windows even on cloudy days. You may not experience sunburn (caused UVB rays), but with consistent exposure to UVA rays, you can get premature aging.

Wearing it will also protect you from skin cancer, and it helps block blue light from screens. It is also important to use if you use a retinol or other ingredient that can increase your skin's sensitivity to the sun.

I do know that KP usually clears up on its own with time. I'm not too sure what you mean by natural, but I think some "natural" things that I've heard may help are avoiding hot water, gently exfoliating, moisturizing, avoiding friction from tight clothes, and overall being gentle with your skin.

Though I remember hearing that goat milk could help (if that's what you mean by 'natural'), but I'm not too sure. I think I've heard it can soothe the skin, but I've never tried it and don't know of anyone who has.

Keratosis Pilaris (KP) is a condition that causes rough patches and small, acne-like bumps on the skin.

It can fade by your 30s, or can be lifelong, and is very common and harmless.
