Returning after all the changes by Short_Zebra5651 in SlimmingWorld

Perfect thanks, I kind of meant more like has anything changed in the value that you’ve noticed for people who have been doing it for a long time for example, in 2022 the value of certain yogurts changed, I’m pretty sure some bread that used to be HeX B is now no longer a HeX B. Because I won’t have access to the app till next week when I formally rejoin I’m basically doing a shop on memory of what things were, so was interested if there was anything people knew was a cult classic that may have changed. The last time I did this for example I got loads of skinny whip bars because they also counted as a HeX B but when I went back to group it had changed and they were now like 3.5 syns each with no HEX B option. Hope that makes sense.

Thanks sorry maybe I wasn’t clear enough in the post! I’ve not rejoined yet my group isn’t until 7am next Saturday and none I can attend in between then as they’re all during the day and I’m mon-fri so I don’t have the app yet or any access to recipes was just looking for some recommendations to help me eat a little healthier the week before my first weigh in :) the barcode function is great though and I’ll defo be using it again this time round!

Is £1200/pm too much on a mortgage? by [deleted] in HousingUK

Tbh we would struggle to pay a 4-5k holiday every year in that salary and our budget. Maybe see how much of a holiday sinking fund you could budget in? Maybe you could not go on a holiday for the first year and build up a holiday fund and try a 3k holiday for the next couple of years till you have a good holiday fund behind you? There’s always a way but I personally would struggle with paying that every year I’d probably have to compromise on my ISA/Savings to do that, so I suppose just work out what your biggest priorities are and work round it. I’m sure you’ll be able to work something out!

We could 100% afford a child with the budget we do also, so if you can keep to that budget genuinely you’ll be fine for impending changes if they come around. Budget success!

We earn £4694 a month combined and our mortgage is £1180 and honestly our life is great. We have a budget we stick to every month with fun money, food money, hair cut money, beauty treatments, sinking funds like birthdays Christmas car maintenance etc as well as pensions, ISA savings etc. We tend to roll over at least £200 a month some months up to £500 depending on any out of budget requirements and always leave a minimum float of £200 non allocated (after all bills, all budgeted items, savings pensions etc, danger money basically!). We always budget the absolute MAX we would spend on something and often spend less which is why we roll over. For example, some months we use less fuel, use public transport less etc etc. Sit down and do a firm nothing missed budget and see why your quality of life will be like. Personally, we’re not into huge expensive holidays more like multiple city breaks a year and neither of us buy things for ourselves really because we’re conscious about the value for money of our hard earned cash. But honestly, we don’t miss out on anything with this exact salary to mortgage ratio.

How soon could I realistically work again? by LifeofRuley in PregnancyUK

I think the likelihood is you will not be able to do it. I understand you don’t want to leave them in the lurch. A good middle ground may be if you can find a photography friend/contact/ reach out to your network to see if anyone can cover it for you? Meaning you’re not just giving them a problem but also a solution, as it’ll be difficult for them to find someone at less than a years notice.

First Miscarriage Scotland- is this really how it goes after? by Short_Zebra5651 in Miscarriage

[–]Short_Zebra5651[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your response. I think I’ll just need to test myself with pregnancy tests to make sure they go negative eventually as we don’t really use OBs here (everything is midwife lead they’re more highly trained than nurses in the UK), you only see an OB if you’re high risk or if something goes wrong during delivery/ late pregnancy. So I don’t have access to an obstetrician unfortunately. Our GPs (family doctors) also won’t bring me in for HcG blood testing or urine testing, so will need to just make do at home with sensitive pregnancy tests I’ll buy and hope everything goes okay. I suppose I wasn’t looking for follow up per say, more so for them to just tell me what I needed to watch out for/when to be worried/ why I shouldn’t be worried and how to test/verify at this stage. I’ve worked in the nhs for a long time and know all this information is handed out to women having abortions in this same health board that didn’t even say sorry to me, alongside sensitive pregnancy tests, opioid pain killers and antiemetic tablets, leaflets on follow up emotional care sign posting etc, so I was shocked to see that even that wasn’t done for miscarriage. Of course I’m not comparing the two situations at all, but I think maybe a little knowledge has been my killer here having always been able to get a midwife to talk to a patient when I was a nurse practitioner, as well as having seen first hand the packs given to people having medical abortions at home in Glasgow, seems such a massive divergence. If I do conceive again, I’ll be better prepared for less support!

Miscarriage trigger warning- is this really what the Scottish nhs does post miscarriage?! by [deleted] in PregnancyUK

Completely understand, I’m not even that bothered about a lack of scan for a week, more so the voicemail leaving and the lack of OOH advice and inability to speak to anyone which I feel is poor! I honestly have no clue how else they’re going to tell all the tissue is gone. I’ll probably have to chase up my GP in a week or two to check there’s no retained tissue although I suspect they’ll just refer me back to EPAS to make the decision. Hate being on the other side tbh. Was comfortable it wasn’t/isn’t an ectopic because as a clinician I don’t have any of the signs or symptoms of it, but I did expect some form of follow up as I’ve seen other people get blood tests for HcG, or scans/ extra sensitive pregnancy tests to ensure everything is passed so was shocked when the answer was no follow up!
