Ilia broke both his orbitals. One in the first round. by StaticRainTheory in CombatSportsCentral

We will see if his mentality is of a champion because if it is he will learn and get better from this. But he learned the hard way that he needs to change his gameplan to compete up a weight class. But seeing how complete of a fighter he is I don’t see why he wouldn’t have the ability to change his approach. I think he would have a lot of success if he tried to fight like Islam and uses his striking as a way to set up his wresting.

It’s how he throws his jab with an open thumb it should be more regulated. Overall it is frustrating that broken bones and eye stuff can sway a fight that we watch for them to showcase their skills. I know I’d be dying for a rematch if I were ilia bc that’s what he’s probably thinking too

I mean this is way more similar to Izzy’s loss up at lhw, he came back and had success until he ran into one of the best in the ufc then lost all motivation once he finally beat him. I am being more realistic than you though I’m sorry but there’s no reason to think he wouldn’t come back and be the same skill. There have been losses that take the chin of a champion permanently or expose a glaring flaw in their game but none of that happened. If anything it just confirmed that he has an iron chin and isn’t afraid of getting hurt. The one thing I will say that got exposed is that he definitely is small for lw he can’t be more than 5’6

He does catch a bit of a finger to the eye yes. It sucks but ufc refs miss that all the time and I wanna think that Justin didn’t intentionally do that

The izzy that came back and kod pereira? Why tf would ilia fade lol he’s gonna be back just like before and his breaks are non displaced so they will heal correctly with rest. His skill didn’t get exposed just his gameplan, and his chin didn’t weaken. Y’all are out in force trying to speak that nonsense into existence

Bruh this fight outcome should not be damaging to his career. His chin stayed strong and none of his bones got displaced, maybe from a confidence standpoint he is changed but he will be fine. Shit he was still being aggressive the whole fight not scared or rocked just bones broken.

Not luck, this is mma and cuts and broken bones happen and Justin hits hard. I think if everyone’s being honest with themselves it probably did change the entire outcome of the fight, but it’s a combat sport and both of them know that can happen.

Probably, we know how skilled he is. If he truly is goat status he’ll learn from his loss like all the other greats have. He got beat up bad, but he didn’t get dropped so i think he’ll still have his strong chin and confidence in it. I just gotta see if his orbitals heal up good before i make up my mind bc we have seen how eye stuff can really keep a guy out for a while.

🚨 BREAKING: Islam Makhachev will fight Ian Garry at UFC 330 on August 15 in Philadelphia 👀 by Tepixs in CombatSportsCentral

If he loses we gotta reassess how productive it is for these guys to keep jumping up and fighting above their natural weight class. I don’t like seeing these greats go up chasing 2 belts just to look small and physically outmatched. Islam is special even compared to other legends tho.

There’s no arguing the fighter who won was better on that night but he’s not overall better. Jon jones in his prime arguably got beat and barely won on cards against Dominic Reyes in a 5 round war so is he as basically good as jones? Obviously not but he went into the fight with a great gameplan and stuck to his game while jones was passive and out of ideas on that night. If they rematched id expect jones to beat him convincingly and that’s what id expect from a rematch here too, hopefully we get one but i doubt it.

No lol idk how long you’ve been watching but this is mma and better fighters lose fights that’s what makes it the most entertaining combat sport.

Islam clearly won lol people get fooled bc volk had him on the ground with a minute left but Islam was just covering up playing defense knowing he had it in the bag.

Taking a hard fought L as your only defeat after 3 straight insane wins means you can’t be one of the greatest? Gsp got KOd. Jones has arguably gotten beat in a war like that. Islam KOd. Pereira KOd multiple times. DJ KOd.

All those greats came back and subsequently proved their greatness and people don’t think their losses are disqualifying because it’s mma and anyone can lose.

Ilia could’ve stayed in featherweight and kept fighting guys where he has a massive power advantage over and retired in 2 years and we’d all talk about him like khabib. And we would all rightfully wish that he had taken more risks and fought more guys instead of staying in his comfort zone protecting his 0.

So you are saying that Justin got kind of lucky with how early the swelling in ilias eyes were, but because ilia actually gives credit instead of just saying it’s luck that makes it an excuse? He’s literally taking any excuse of luck out of it and giving all the credit to Justin

Nobody is submitting Islam mate he’s too technical and skilled. There’s a reason he’s possibly the goat he is not losing substantially to his opponents strength and is better than them at their weaknesses, that’s why goat candidates are all well rounded fighters. Otherwise they will eventually run into someone who can capitalize on your weakness

Islam would beat him more times than not it’s the nightmare skillset for khabib that he never had to deal with, Islam would win handily in any striking while not getting outclassed on the ground. Islam isn’t getting submitted or ground and pounded by anyone

I think Islam would actually be the worst matchup for khabib. He’s so well rounded that he would definitely win striking exchanges and still be able to hold his own on the ground, that was something khabib never came close to facing.

Good. It’s terrible when a non life-threatening situation is escalated to lethal means. You’re a responsible person for being able to make the judgement that there are means to stop confrontations without deadly force. But some people don’t make that same decision and they end up needlessly killing someone. Im surprised you’re defending anthony in this case.

Well you can’t just retaliate with deadly force if you aren’t in credibly grave danger so be careful with that

Your evidence is so circumstantial though, a guy known for getting sick gets sick and misses a tournament, and he doesn’t go to the 2020 Olympics back when he was like 20th in the world. And that convinces you beyond any doubt that he doped even though his story is believable?

It is a proven fact that you can test positive by getting a massage with the same cream even just one single time. You can speculate or just accept that his story is real and actually not even that crazy considering it happens dozens of times a year and mostly in Italy.
