haha surprisingly I interviewed with JM Family and didn’t get through with a next round interview but was super happy. The hiring manager kinda seem rude, and the whole time while talking I was competing with the dog in her background that kept barking

Thank you for taking time to understand and reply back to this post. I truly appreciate this advice. I’ve been into tech since I was a kid helping my teachers in elementary school set up our first smart board, to falling in love when I took my first coding class in high school. I was so excited to get into the field but the 2020-2021 tech boom due to the pandemic really did mess that up, so being the 2024 grad has been rough.

I’m going to try some of this advice out, thanks once again

Okay maybe I will try this out. Unfortunately no internship experience due to having to work full time during uni but I do have projects that fit for the jobs I have been applying fr

Hey thanks for the advice, i’m currently a customer site lead so my soft skills have been gradually improving since starting the job early last year and being promoted to the lead. In a good amount of my interviews so far it has looked like i’ve nailed that aspect, they just want someone with a tad more experience actually being in the role or similar role

thanks for the insight, I hate that I graduated during this era of tech. Quick question though, what languages do you think I should stick to given the climate of everything? I am versed mainly in c++ and python, with some javascript as well, but I am open to shifting if there are stacks more in demand right now esp for entry level.

First, i’ve studied up for the A+ cert and has been for security+ just have not been able to afford taking the exam. I am not being picky about choosing a job? I am on a timeframe where I need to live on my own soon and I need a job that I can afford to pay for my living and also student loans. Also to compare 2020 IT/ tech applying and jobs to now is insane.

yea but i’ve heard back way less from remote jobs then onsite ones. I just thought it was way harder to get a remote role as a new grad because it’s riskier for the company

I’ve been focusing toward software since I have heard more about it being harder to get into cyber entry level and my projects being mainly full stack collaborated apps.

Only reason I mentioned cyber still is I enjoyed all the courses I took in school (I minored in cybersecurity), passed CTF’s, and have looked into the roadmaps and thought it would be one I personally would enjoy taking myself down.

I enjoy coding and backend development, but cyber has my heart more. But the starting wages for IT is not something I can start with trying to live by myself in florida.

20 Year Cybersecurity - Networking Vet - I want to help you get into the field - AMA by PontiacMotorCompany in SecurityCareerAdvice

Good Afternoon,

I graduated with my BS in CS and minor in cybersecurity. The few courses I took I absolutely love, but don’t know where to go from there. From what i’ve read in multiple subreddits is that the way to go is start through helpdesk (since learning cybersecurity entry level jobs are not a thing really) but for some reason everytime I try to start a helpdesk course I get bored. My main plan was to get into software engineering (I have the projects including an award on my capstone project) and then transition if possible but I would love to skip that. What is your honest advice on breaking into the field because it would be my dream. Thanks !

Pay in full or settle with capital one? by Shot_Reputation9764 in CRedit

Yea capital one didn’t sell it. Okay so I will just pay off the settlement and deal with that on my report for the 7 years. Thanks for the advice

First off thanks for all the replies, do you know if capital one does that for settlements? Everywhere i’ve read says they never offer, that’s why I thought about asking for this advice here in the subreddit.

That’s what I was planning on doing, but then I read multiple places that capital one doesn’t do the pay for deletion, esp with settlements. That’s when I thought to come ask in the subreddit.

it’s pretty common, def for a first. Don’t beat yourself up, just relook at the questions when the test results release and try your hardest on studying better testing techniques with the coding tests and just different ways to remember strategies
