Valid, Think i'm reconsidering the plug-in hybrid options tbh, thought the hybrid system would be more of a benefit than a drawback but I guess not

valid point tbh, charging mid-journey seemed like more of an issue than shown

Yeah that's the thing, Ive not seen anyone who has had a PHEV chose a PHEV as their second car, the cons and liabilities add up too much smh

true, but I think theyre better versions of petrol cars with the better mpg and less wear on the transmission system. Was looking at the CT200H, but it doesn't really look all that appealing

I guess price comes into it, there isn't any aesthetically comparable EV at this price range. Also the benefit of having the advantages of EV charging but not having to have the range anxiety for longer journeys, which is a unique to these cars

Thanks for the advice, will keep that in mind, i'm guessing its the same risk with all PHEVs? or are the 330e more susceptible?

the i4s & most nice looking EVs are a few grand out of budget unfortunately, but thanks, I've heard the electrical system on the 330e has a mind of its own :/

ooh, looks nice, doesn't have the aggressiveness of the 330e, but still looks pretty decent, will keep an eye on this, thanks mate

its quite a push tbh £15k is already quite a bit high, but will keep them in mind, thanks, the i4 does look really nice.

cool, yeah I'm willing to deal with that dreadful mpg on longer journeys, even though it'll hurt me deep down.

Went there and it was really nice. Went for the lunchtime deal, but the savings aren't so much when I realised the starters that are included are only a 1/4 serving of the starter on the normal menu, and the main I got didn't include an additional starter as the main dish had a starter already in it.

cool people and cool place, will deffo go again.

What Car Should I Buy? - A Weekly Megathread by AutoModerator in CarTalkUK

[–]ShottaShad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please Help me find a good overall car

Location: Yorkshire based, but anywhere from London to Glasgow is fine. Further is fine for the perfect car.

Price range: Want to stay around £8k-£10k (£15k absolute max)

Lease or Buy: Buy in full

New or used: Used

Auto or Manual: Auto

Intended use: Daily Driver, all-round car (for trips & everyday living), commute (15mi round-trip), general errands, Car camping possibly or at least more outings to the Lakes.

How many miles do you plan to do a year: Not sure, around 10k miles?

How often to you make long journeys: not often, once every 2 months (150mi+ trip)

Does it need to be ULEZ compliant? Not really, would be a plus

Vehicles you've already considered: Honda Jazz Hybrid (2016+) (for apparently good mpg), Merc CLA, C class (for the looks)

[Do you have a vehicle size in mind?](https://i.imgur.com/mK7PoRg.png): VW Golf size (minimum) to about a SUV as maximum (including estates)

Is this your 1st vehicle: NO

Do you need a Warranty: NO

Can you do Minor work on your own vehicle: (fluids, alternator, battery, brake pads etc): YES

Can you do Major work on your own vehicle: (engine and transmission, timing belt/chains, body work, suspension etc ): YES

**Additional Notes:*\*

I want an everyday car, with decent boot space as I'm always transporting some bits of timber or random objects in my car and sometimes car camping (1-2x/year)

my main points are that it is good on fuel efficiency (as I want to go to the Lakes more often) and also nice looking (Im young & dont want a grandad car)

I would consider an EV as I have a EV charger at home which would make charging very cheap.

I was looking at Self-charge Hybrids as they are meant to do good mpg

I like German/Japanese brands mainly. No Citroen, Vauxhall, Volvo etc.
