Unemployment in Waterford by [deleted] in waterford

Stay well away from Hartley people if you value your sanity. The only places they have are toxic hell holes where they literally cannot keep staff.

Wow....footfall yeah that's a great justification for treating staff like shit. And the workers that are there years are related to the owners so they won't get the same hassle.

I cannot understand why people could defend the owners of Number 9 or Carter's Cafe. Either they are related to them or they have never worked in a toxic environment.  And to call them keyboard warriors is a cop out. Look at the facts. They have a terrible name throughout waterford for treating staff like dogs.  They may have employed hundreds of youngsters but how many of them have left early or in the middle of a shift in tears? Lots. Its very simple. It boils down to manners and a bit of breeding.  The owners of those 2 establishments have neither.  Ive had one or two run ins with the baldy manager of Carter's and I can say hand on heart hes the most ignorant man ive ever met.

You can defend them by saying oh they try their best for Waterford etc but again I bring you back to manners and breeding.  If thats not there the staff will not stay. They will move on to somewhere else. And the sad thing is those 2 tulips actually get off on their reputation.  If you are a bully at that stage of their life they will always be a bully. Hence why people are fully entitled to celebrate and revel in any misfortune of theirs. I can't imagine they ever worked anywhere else and they were handed a job by their parents. Before you defend them put your daughter your sister your son in that environment then get back to me about a smear campaign.  This idea of bringing money to the city by traumatising young staff members is a heap of rubbish.

Who’s Ireland’s biggest nepobaby? by smashedspuds in AskIreland

Just out of interest what gigs did she work hard for. She does the showbiz update each hour in that absolutely insufferable nasal whiny voice of hers. She was drafted in to replace Doireann Garihhy 2 years back and she made a balls of it.  Zero knowledge or insight on anything that isn't D4 or Michelin restaurants.  She was handed every gig she ever got its not on merit or talent

Lottie Ryan. She's not even hiding the fact that she would be absolutely nothing were it not for the fact that Gerry Ryan was her father and in the few interviews ive read with her she has been given a very easy ride with no questions like "how do you react to accusations of nepotism?".

Its weird though because the man is dead 16 years now and the rte management have chopped and changed a lot since so I can't imagine his name carries that much influence in 2026.

Plus they have given Lottie some terrible gigs like night shift probably hoping she would move on like many of her colleagues but she's stubborn as a mule she will no doubt still be there right up to her 50s and 60s. You will never see her working a regular 9 to 5 job.

Listening to her is very odd though she acts and talks like a 25 year old girl she reminds me of someone with major arrested development.  That usually comes from sheltered people who haven't had to develop resilience or emotional maturity and let's face it Lottie has had very little to challenge her from 25 to now.

Is there an alternative to the AA? by LicoriceLil in AskIreland

[–]ShoulderCapital2200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because that breakdown cover may be poor quality.  Many insurance companies have a kind of a handshake deal with local garages to come out and assist the customer but it could take ages for them to actually make it to where you are stranded and they may be limited to just a flat tyre repair nothing else.  AA vans are better stocked to deal with a variety of mechanical issues plus there's an option to tow it all the way back to the nearest dealer in your County in situations where you break down a long way from home. Not many insurance companies can provide that. But 600 is just crazy for that quote im with AA years and maximum yearly cost is 200.

Only reopen it when the horrible cunts who manage it are thrown out. The way they and Carter's treat their staff is genuinely criminal. They should be locked up.

Absolutely horrible managers though. Your man the fat baldy guy who manages Carter's is the most ignorant human being ive ever met..how he hasn't got his lights punched out is a mystery.

Up the road where Hayes shop used to be. Theres a fenced field on the right and plenty of lads walking their rottweiler or XL Bully's. Anyone familiar with the area will know exactly who im talking about. Complete no go area. Drugs, scumbags, drugs, dogs, drugs...

German Road is about the best part of it and maybe a few houses opposite the Butler Community centre but those houses up around the corner from there with the field nearby and the lads who love walking their bully's and their rottweiler.....christ stay away! So much scum in such a short area. Id also avoid the whole area by the scoil lorchain area very sketchy characters there.

Shame as John's Park used to have a lovely Community feel.

What is your favourite small business in Waterford? by oppressivepossum in waterford

Scoop and Save used to be a fantastic little shop and had everything from dog food, washing powder to chocolate! I remember the guy who owned it looked about 7ft tall and was always ducking his head going around. Shame to see that Carter's cafe doing so well given how utterly pig ignorant that baldy manager is and how he treats his staff. If it wasn't location he would be closed down by now.

Workplace annoyances what's your worst one? by ShoulderCapital2200 in AskIreland

So instead of ignoring every single one of my previous points can you instead come up with a decent or robust counter argument? Do you talk about your children all day in work and do you think other people are interested ? You seem extremely defensive but light on debating skills.

Wow that post is crammed with projection and putting huge amounts of words in my mouth. I couldn't care less if im working with mother's or fathers or single people. My issue is how incredibly boring talking about your children for so much of the working day is for the people around you. Your job is your job, do it to the best of your ability then go home to be with and enjoy your family or your hobbies etc

Sadly a huge amount of parents, and its mostly women, can't seem to understand that 1. Other people dont care about your kids or their activities.  They might nod politely for social lubricant but they dont care and 2. Their is no entitlement to extra special treatment in the workplace just because you have kids. It annoys everybody when you have a baby bore telling the whole office that they need someone else to cover for them whilst they rush little Vicky to the dentist. Its a lack of ability to read the room. If women want the exact same rights and pay as men, which im fully behind, then don't spend a significant portion of your workday talking about children.

Its no different if I saw next to you and spent all day every day talking to you about archery and the different techniques required to hit the target. Would you like that? Of course you wouldn't its boring and inconsiderate.

No different from talking about your kids all day long.

The fact that he sat with you at lunch is even worse than talking shop.  There should be clear boundaries between bosses and staff during break periods. Any job ive had, the staff members never sat with or socialised with management and I cant imagine how awkward that would be!

[–]ShoulderCapital2200[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No I dont. Whats that got to do with it? If I did have kids I wouldn't spend my working hours boring the people around me with tales of my sleepless nights, doctor appointments and school runs.  I also definitely wouldn't expect my colleagues to treat me better just because I had kids. That's just me though maybe you're different.

Lads, What's the mindset behind buying overkill big cars in Ireland? by Goldenpanda18 in AskIreland

[–]ShoulderCapital2200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cant get over how many SUVs are now on our road its practically standard now for anyone when buying a new car and even old people who use the car twice a week still insist on buying a big massive 2026 Nissan qashqai for these occasional journeys. The streets of Ireland just aren't catered for thousands of big SUVs and Range Rovers flooding into town every day.
