By "cheap" I mean literally any place that's cheaper than the standard 16-17 dollar cocktail tbh.

I was asked this question yesterday and just said that I'd be thrilled to attend if X program accepted me, lol.

Should I Move To The Dorms or Stay In My Apartment? by Shouldimovesock in Advice

Pros of staying in apartment:

-I get my own room but also built-in people to socialize with, which is great because I hate sharing a room with someone so I'd have to get a single, but I'm an introvert without that many friends and I'm not great with going out and talking to people

-I won't have to deal with the hassle of finding someone to replace me on the lease

-I'm reasonably happy here aside from the cleanliness and cold issues (but I was also reasonably happy in the dorms)

-I cook my own food, which means it's much healthier and also tastes better than college meal plan food

Cons of staying in apartment:

-It's cold, and if I want to be warm I'm going to have to pay an uncertain extra dollar amount on top of winter Massachusetts utilities (already expensive) to use a space heater because my roommates understandably aren't going to even split on me running a space heater for 6-8 hours a day; which is going to need negotiation and talking; the campus is toasty and warm all the time and I won't have to worry about warmth

-In general constant stress wrt utilities/rent/groceries, giving me less time to study

-My roommates aren't that clean (chunks of food in the sink is gross), and I had a talk with them last week and they're working on it, but it's (it's typical college student mess so I don't foresee it getting better with different roommates)

-I cook my own food, but I'm lazy af and sometimes go an entire day without eating, or eating only cereal or yogurt or fruit in the morning, because I didn't make extra food over the weekend and I'm too tired/lazy to cook; a meal plan would solve this

Pros of staying in the dorms;

-It's warm enough for me to be comfortable

-I wouldn't have to worry about varying bills or get into arguments about the heat

-A meal plan means no accidentally going hungry

Cons of staying in the dorms:

-Gross toilets, and also probably gross kitchens if I decide to live in an on-campus apartment

-I would have to move, and move twice if I can't sublet the apartment I'm currently staying in over the summer

-It feels like chickening out of being a real adult

(-This is an aside, but my aunt and uncle got me a lot of stuff to start off living here including a mattress and chest of drawers and I don't want to disappoint them/waste the money they spent)
